#PropagationStation #UmbrellaTree #GreggersSupportingGreggers #HappyPlamts #Schefflera This Schiffer was given to my father in 1981 as a welcome gift to his new job. In 1982 he gave it to me because he knew I love plants. It grew to be so huge that one year I made the mistake of cutting it down too drastically, and all that came back. Was one stem now as it grows a new stem of leaves the bottom leaves fall off. I am wanting to try to propagate this shift. It has become not just a plant but a true part of the family my father died in 2014 and I would be devastated if I lost this plant so Iβm begging for any help I can get. I donβt know how to do all the hashtags so Iβm hoping I can get help from anyone who reads this message .οΏΌ

Hi Kathy! What a beautiful story π₯° So this tree has some serious history! Caring for a houseplant for over four decades is really something. I'm by no means an expert on umbrella trees, so hopefully others will chime in as well. My first thought looking at your photo is that it needs more light. It seems rather elongated/leggy, which happens when plants are trying to reach for a better light source. I see on your plant card it's under/near a grow light? Do you happen to know the light's strength? I imagine one would need a pretty large one to supply adequate light to such a massive plant. Their leaves can start to burn if they get too much intense direct light, so maybe an east or north-facing window would be a suitable spot π
I donβt have any north facing windows that get enough light to help Dad or any other plant I have dad to say. I had to move it a foot away from my grow light that is hanging from the ceiling because it was burning the new delicate leaves. Have included a picture of the light π‘ I have 2 in my living room at opposite ends and all my other plants seem to be thriving.
@YesWaiuatua7 Hey Kathy, I saw you were searching for your post earlier, here it is, hope that helps
@ApRiseandShine thank you so very much!!
