Excited and nervous for Hoya fungii's bloom
My Hoya fungii is getting so close to its first bloom π₯Ή Iβm so excited, scared, proud and nervous all at once! I keep thinking Iβll check it one day and all the buds will be blasted off but each day Iβm pleased Iβm wrong. #Hoya #HoyaHangout fungii">#hoyafungii #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth blooming">#blooming flowerpower">#flowerpower

@HoyaAddict I'm fast becoming a hoya addict, they're such wonderful plants and easy care. I have 7, one I grew from a Meliflua cutting and definitely want more, there are so many varieties of Hoyas, did I say I'm in love with Hoyas πππ€£
@HoyaAddict this is excitingβ¦ very excitingβ¦ Iβve never seen a bloom like thisπππ
@Sassylimey I have seen two leaf cutting bloom before! So long as you have a peduncle you have a chance β€οΈ My pubicalyx is very mature but has zero peduncles. My mathilde is very young but has over 5 lmao. Iβm keeping my fingers crossed for you! π
@strawberrymoon Oh my god yes! Curtsii is so friggin cute π₯° love that leaf shape!
Thank you @HoyaAddict I feel encouraged π₯°
@Alkiplants Most important I think is sunlight, these guys LOVE sun. Iβve had all on mine in a north facing window (south facing to you guys in northern hemisphere) I think the more light the better, if they start to get red thatβs okay! But if they get brown dry or pale patches pull them back a bit. I read a lot of people also really underwater them, but I treat mine just like my succulents. I think they need sufficient water to make and keep blooms. If the soil is 95-100% dry I water and thatβs it. I donβt leave them to sit dry for days on end, I think this is especially important when theyβre trying to bloom! Most of my Hoya is living in extremely loose gritty soil, water runs right through, I need to leave it in the saucer to soak up. I also use fish tank water 80% of the time (sometimes Iβm lazy and use tap haha this doesnβt bother them at all) I just use fish tank water as a mild fertiliser, maybe once a month in spring/summer Iβll use liquid fertiliser too. Iβve never foliar fed my Hoya except wiping leaves down with 50/50 milk water, (not fuzzy ones like fungii tho) this can really help if theyβre missing nutrients for blooming! (Or you can not be a cheapskate like me and buy them proper foliar fertiliser spray haha, orchid ones are good). If you want to boost the growth rate, I would try to increase the humidity. This has got all my βnon growingβ Hoya cutting going in just a few weeks! These guys love humidity so much itβs insane haha. Hope this helps! This is pretty much all I do (oh and give them support too!)
@Sassylimey Youβre welcome! Hoya are just so pretty π I want everyone to own a flowering Hoya! π
@HoyaAddict that is amazing!!!
@Alkiplants Haha π I may be a bit obsessed!
@Sassylimey Yay! So nice to see another addict π
I really have no idea why theyβre not everywhere! As you say theyβre sooo easy to grow, they can grow like weeds and there are even bushy types of you donβt like trailers! π I hope you get some peduncles growing this winter for spring πΌ π₯°
@HoyaAddict this is a great obsession π€©
