The flower’s petals (specifically the purple ones) are closing up. They were more open on July 31 as you can see in the pics. Is this due to under watering? Over watering? Or just natural life cycle? I bought the plant on July 22 and I’m very new to the plant life. Thanks! #UrnPlant #Bromeliad

It's a natural cycle. Flowers aren't meant to last long because they take much of the plant's energy to maintain, so they start to cull it after a couple of days or weeks. For the plant, they are just a means of reproduction; it's useless to the plant outside of this so it dying off has nothing to do with the plant’s overall health.
A side note make sure you are watering the dirt . I’ve seen so many advise to water down in the shoots of the plant and that is wrong.
@Hoyaobsessed I did water the dirt but I also put some water into the plant as well. Should I not do that?
Putting it in the plant down the shoots can cause rot especially if you don’t dump out the excess
Never put a full cup in the center leaves I'd keep it like half full
