I have ventured into unfamiliar territory and out of my comfort zone. I had to have this after losing a dear friend/client. He would always say, Nina, how will you ever know what you can do unless you do it.
Her name will change if I manage to keep her alive 😝
2ft to light, indirect
2” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 month ago

HAHAHAA! The name! πŸ˜† When I was reading your post, I read: Her name is Change….

I thought, oh, that’s a great name…. Then I saw the plant card!

Okay - time for honesty: I had (still have) mine in a homemade self-watering pot. It really helped. When Greg told me to water it, I filled up the pot.

I had (still have) mine in a medium bright area and NOT in direct sunlight because the leaves will burn.

At the end of my last life chapter, I neglected my plants, horribly. I reached up to throw the pot of my prayer plant away and there was a single shoot in the pot! I hadn’t watered it in probably four months!!

All that to say, you’ve got this!

You can take a look at #PrayerPlant and #Maranta and ask @PlantMompy because she has a STUNNING prayer plant!
@FitBrowallia I keep forgetting to do that. Thanks for reminding me πŸ€—
Great name. But maybe just negligent homicide?
@sarahsalith I keep telling myself that I can handle this but my brain laughs at me and says no way πŸ˜‚
@MusicalRedmint maybe accidental plantslaughter instead of murder 😝
Nina, I will remember those words your friend would say. I have not ventured into a prayer plant as I hear they are demanding. One day. Right now, I am working on moving my plants to a brighter spot in my home.
@GlowingIvy I was so scared to get this but when I was looking at it, those words popped into my head. I said okay Charles, this is for you πŸ€—
@MusicalRedmint πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†
It keeps getting better and better.
Ok, I was terrified of mine as well!

Mine also gets very filtered, no direct light and I keep it on the moist side, more than I expected. It currently has water roots growing out of the pot πŸ˜‚.
To get the right watering rhythm I would water it anytime I noticed it wouldn't pray at night.

I did have some brown tips as we were getting to know one another, so don't fret if you see some too!
@PlantMompy it’s in a tiny 2 inch pot and I know it’s going to need a repot but I am scared to even go near it πŸ˜‚ I pet it with my eyes.
2" should be easy! Put a little dirt in the bottom of a 4", pull your plant out and set it in the 4" and then just fill around it with soil. Then you never need to touch the roots and (hopefully) it'll thank you for it and now throw a fit πŸ˜‚

Mine is in a 6" and so big I have no idea how I'll do it. I also might want it to be in a hanging pot so I keep putting it off. Lol
@PlantMompy oh thank you so much. I was worried that I would have to mess with the roots and I know that would be disastrous for both of us. It it pretty much the same type of medium? I use a mix of tropical mix, perlite, orchid mix, a bit of sphagnum moss and worm castings.
9/10 if you can repot without touching the roots it'll be 100x less traumatic for you and the plants. Sometimes we don't have a choice, but especially if you know your plant is prone to repotting fits it's a relief to be able to make it less traumatic.

Whatever your "go to" mix is should be fine if it's working in your home and for your routines! You might want to increase a few parts so that it retains water a bit more but otherwise nothing jumps out at me that should change.
@PlantMompy okay awesome thanks and I will probably need to put a bit more moss because I know they like to be moist but not soggy. This is definitely a learning curve for me.
I feel that. I hope yours thrives as much as mine has! I thought I wouldn't love it and it wouldn't do well but instead it's become one of my favorites
