Oh boy what did I do!?
So I had a visitor this week and today we went to the grocery store. Long story short, I saw this 6”peace lily for $15 and being the hoarder that I am… my friend bought it for me after I contemplated for 15 minutes. 😂 Peace lilies have never thrilled me but for some reason I could not leave this baby behind.
Since it’s a grocery store plant, I gave her a shower to wash any gnats or pollen off, and sprayed with diluted alcohol and hydrogen peroxide. I also watered with dehumidifier water and hydrogen peroxide to kill any eggs that might be hiding in the soil. She’s beautiful and I can’t wait to watch her grow! she’s beautiful!! peace lilly’s will get droopy when they need water but will perk right up when watered, that’s how i know when to water mine. i fertilize once a month, also have a layer of moss on top to keep the soil moist because i would be watering it like every other day😅 if you have that problem try the moss!
@tattedscientist oh cool! I’m planning to do this, would be fun to do one of those time lapses too!
@Ms.Persnickety i get dried sphagnum moss from amazon, since it’s on the top it still drys out too fast for any gnats to lay their eggs, and i also think it makes it hard for the gnats to actually crawl through and get to the soil to lay eggs
