Oh boy what did I do!?
So I had a visitor this week and today we went to the grocery store. Long story short, I saw this 6”peace lily for $15 and being the hoarder that I am… my friend bought it for me after I contemplated for 15 minutes. πŸ˜‚ Peace lilies have never thrilled me but for some reason I could not leave this baby behind.

Since it’s a grocery store plant, I gave her a shower to wash any gnats or pollen off, and sprayed with diluted alcohol and hydrogen peroxide. I also watered with dehumidifier water and hydrogen peroxide to kill any eggs that might be hiding in the soil. She’s beautiful and I can’t wait to watch her grow! Any tips will be appreciated, I plan to most every day or two and use dehumidifier water like I do with all my calatheas and needy plants. 😊 #NewPlants #WhatDidIDo #HappyPlants #PeaceLily #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #GregGang #grocerystorerescue #GreatFind #alltangosposts #planthoarder

Woah!!! She’s GORGEOUS! I’m not a huge fan of β€œflower” plants but I understand why you could not leave her behind. Honestly, she’s very pretty. 🀍✨
@kscape thank you! I’m the same way, and my anthurium was a literal pest nightmare for 3 months, but she recovered and it motivated me. 😊
She got a lil’ humidity tray, some light, and she’s looking so happy! The new plant treatment was very satisfying and now I’m happy. 🀣
Ugh she looks great!! Have you named her yet? If not, name her Keilani 🀍✨
@kscape I like that name wayyyy better than Madonna, which Greg suggested. πŸ˜‚
@tango ooooo!! Yessss! You can pronounce either Kay-Lah-Ni or Key-Lah-Nee ✨
@kscape perfect!! I’ll probably alternate until I decide. πŸ˜…
@tango yessssss happy to help with your gorgeous baby πŸ₯ΉπŸ₯ΉπŸ₯°
Keilani is BEAUTIFUL πŸ’šπŸ˜
Awesome!! She's a beauty! What a great deal!!
She’s gorgeous!!
@LatiTish84 @AwesomePlants @TJphilobsessed Thank you so much!! I dont think they’re too hard but hopefully she lives!
Pretty! Looks like you’re doing a great job with her so far. But don’t ask me... I don’t know what their problem is but peace lilies hate me! ✌🏽
Wasn’t a Kalani on 90Day FiancΓ©? Careful she might become a drama king πŸ‘‘ πŸ˜‚. Names matter
she’s beautiful!! peace lilly’s will get droopy when they need water but will perk right up when watered, that’s how i know when to water mine. i fertilize once a month, also have a layer of moss on top to keep the soil moist because i would be watering it like every other dayπŸ˜… if you have that problem try the moss!
@annapop that sounds super helpful!! I just gather sphagnum from my yard and I’m busy drowning the bugs by leaving it in water for 2 days. πŸ˜…I’ll add hydrogen peroxide after and try that!!
@Harat9 @Kwanna uh oh to both! πŸ˜‚ hopefully she will not be too dramatic for me, I have a moisture meter so I’ll use that too.
I bottom water mine and its way more effective for me. She droops every few days when I top water.
@tattedscientist oh cool! I’m planning to do this, would be fun to do one of those time lapses too!
@tango I love those videos!
@tattedscientist right!? They’re so fun and satisfying. πŸ˜‚ plus all the other plant videos… 🀩
My peace lily is as easy as my pothos - they tell ya what they need and need little light. Just be careful not to over water and you’ll be good to go. Congratulations on your new baby
@tango Indeed a beauty!
@BalancedBonsai thank you! I’m relieved. πŸ˜… @Ms.Persnickety I couldnt resist. πŸ₯°
@annapop That’s a good tip with the moss to keep the soil moist. Where do you get the moss from? And will it attract bugs??
@tango she is absolutely gorgeous!! πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°
@tango just remember to keep it out of direct light.
@KikiGoldblatt she’s in a corner with indirect. Thank you!!!!!! πŸ’•πŸͺ΄
Beautiful Peace Lily, I've never had one but this thread has got me adding it to my wish list πŸ₯°
@Ms.Persnickety i get dried sphagnum moss from amazon, since it’s on the top it still drys out too fast for any gnats to lay their eggs, and i also think it makes it hard for the gnats to actually crawl through and get to the soil to lay eggs
@Sassylimey thank you!! She’s just very shiny and happy. 😁
This is a thing of beauty. Glossy leaves galore!
@1987RAF thank you!!! I love her.
