Thank you, Heidi! yes, I can already see it’s going to be a lesson in patience πŸ˜‚ but it’s so exciting, and I love that I get to share this with my nephews πŸ’™πŸ’š
@princesspitstop I’m glad I read this so I don’t get discouraged with my snake plant propagations I have lol
@Saandruuhhh_ Oh yeah lol you're so welcome. I propagated mine directly into soil and dipped them in rooting hormone before I planted them and it still took 3 months. I finally got some pups!! It will happen just make sure you change the water every week so bacteria stays away. It wouldn't be a bad idea to squirt some hydrogen peroxide into the water either. Also, if you have a Pothos plant cut a piece acting like your going to prop it as well making sure no Pothos leaves are in the water and put it in with the snake plants. Pothos propagate fast and they put off a hormone that helps other plants root that you're propagating. It's still going to take some time but anything to help speed it up a little right? πŸ‘ Good luck 🀞 I can't wait to see them thrive!!
@princesspitstop thank you so much for that information πŸ€—πŸ’— hope you have an amazing day! 🫢🏼
@Saandruuhhh_ You as well!! 😊
I tried this and it was a complete failure. My cutting became spongy-like. Then I tried to propagate in soil...another complete failure. I was saddened ..so I started over with a new plant. What is the secret?

@DeanCacto9 It’s my first time to propagate!! no idea why but I am following some instructions founded on youtube! did you try to change the water every 2-3 days? expose the leaves to the sunlight? did you make sure the that the leaves base are on the right side in the water? the orientation of the cutting is very important for successful root growth. If you accidentally flip it upside down, roots will not develop.
@NMS I believe I did. I tried for over a month and there was no evidence of anything. The next time I make the attempt I will make sure I follow all of these suggestions to see what happens. I will repeat to myself...be patient be patient be patient. Lolol
@DeanCacto9 The secret is when you plant the cuttings into soil plant a handful of them because they all won't produce pups. Don't water them for a while either. That will cause them to rot before they produce roots. Like when propagating Succlents the leaf gives everything the pup needs to grow. It's going to take a couple of months before you notice roots. Put it somewhere warm with a lot of light. I put mine outside on my patio. Put it out there and forget about it. In roughly a month go check on them. Gently tug on them to see if roots have formed. You can also pull them out of the soil to check them. If they've started to rot cut that part off and stick it back into the soil and wait. When you see roots you can start watering them. Let the soil completely dry in between waterings. It's also important to use a succulent soil so it's not going to hold on to a lot of water. Water will make them rot for sure. Pretty soon after you see roots a pup will pop up attached to the leaf. It takes patience for real. The picture I added is how I would cut the leaf. Make sure you put the bottom of the leaf down into the soil not the top part. Direction matters.
