Conophytum blooms, oh em gee!

Oh em gee! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #Conophytum #BloomingSuccs
Ahhhh so cute!!! πŸ₯Ή
I think I’m doing something wrong with these. The first picture is when I got them. I watered them once, they got about an inch taller, and then the little one died. Now the two remaining are really tall. Every time I see someone post they look very short. Should I repot them or just wait and see what happens?
@theplantymammy omg those are gorgeous!!! πŸ€©πŸ€©πŸ€©πŸ€©πŸ€©πŸ€©πŸ€©πŸ€©πŸ€©πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•
@Kace I’m not an expert on these far very far from it! The people you need to talk to are @Jana85 @theplantymammy and/or @SirLiquorice They can help a lot! There are certain things you can and can’t do with lithops!!! πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« kind of scary😳😳😳
@Kace you can’t pot them deeper. They get tall like this when they don’t get enough light. It looks like they may be potted farther down in the pot so the rim of the pot blocks some light when they’re really short. They do need a lot of very bright light to prevent them getting tall like that. They also need 90% mineral grit for substrate, and only 10% soil. In the long term, they won’t survive in this much soil. If you give them strong, bright light going forward, the next pair of leaves will be shorter, and the next shorter still, until it has corrected, but this will take a long time since they only get one new leaf pair per year.
@theplantymammy I really love the conos!
@Jana85 Thank you! Next time I won’t grab the cute trendy butt plant from Home Depot. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ
@Kace why not?! It’s totally fine! And they’re adorable! A stretched succulent is not a dying succulent, and unlike pretty much all other succs, these guys can revert. You just have to be patient, which is a word I use a lot when talking about Lithops! πŸ˜† Lithops are just picky about their growing conditions, but the conditions are easily met, and they are easy to grow.
@Kace this chart is also very helpful about watering.
@Jana85 They are adorable, but I did not consider that they would be complex. I’m a chronic overwaterer with no patience. πŸ˜‚
It's happening!!! This is so cute and awesome!!! I am so excited for you!!πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ€―🀯🀯🀯
@Kace don’t get discouraged. I killed many a lithops in my day lol. It’s a learning process. I have noticed them do much better under a strong grow light or even outside.
@Kace if you follow the Greg schedule except when they’re splitting you should be fine.
@theplantymammy I’m going to try. Thanks for the advice! Yours are motivation for sure!
@theplantymammy I’m still killing them πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ˜©πŸ˜–
