My pothos is not growing well. The new leaves that grew are dying and the older ones are turning yellow. What should I do? Anyone help me please. I water it in an interval of 5-6 days or when the top layer of soil is dry. I fertilised it 3 weeks back and it is kept indoor. Sunlight doesn't reach to the pot and it is not even under grow light
3ft to light, indirect

Mornin, Maryam! A pothos about three feet away from a window is good. (:

From the picture, it looks like the soil might be holding on to a lot of water. You can go ahead and pick that little yellow plant out. While you're at it, I suggest you feel the soil and check to make sure the drainage hole in the bottom of the pot ain't clogged.

Sometimes, manufacturers put little plugs in the bottom of the cute, ceramic pots and we need to remove the plug.

After that, see if the soil is holding on to a lot of water. I love to add perlite to my soil to help it drain better. (: Adding perlite to my soil has saved so many of my plants!

The good news is that pothos can root very easily and they can take a lot of unintended abuse.

You've got this, Maryam! I'm so glad you found Greg!
@maryamansari if I had to guess Iโ€™d say itโ€™s time for a soil change. That soil looks really compact and even appears to@have some possible mildew or fungus on it. Iโ€™m guessing itโ€™s holding onto too much water and not draining properly. If itโ€™s not getting any light it probably needs less water as well. Pothos will tolerate low light but all plants need some to thrive.
5-6 days and 3ft from window?! Definitely overwatering. You should NOT blindly water when the surface is dry. [Yes, Greg recommended it, but Greg is AI-based] Pothos like to dry out till halfway between waterings. Check the roots NOW. If they are rotten and mushy, you've got root rot, but no worries. Simply trim the stems so you get a node and a leaf. Put the cuttings in water, and let them root. Once they grow roots about an inch or two, pot them up or leave them in water. Then, move it closer and adjust your watering schedule. Using your finger, stick it into the soil. Only water if your finger comes out soil-free. If soils sticks to your finger, not the time.

@sarahsalith Hey, can you please help me with the ratio of perlite that I should mix with the soil?
