Added a new grow light to my bedroom setup! Too bright to keep on when I’m in here but bright enough to make my succulent happy when I’m gone!
Between the wall, the mushroom shelf, and all of these plants and grow lights, I definitely think we’re succeeding in the goal to make it feel less like a windowless basement and more like an oasis :)) #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #GrowLights

@ForestCave So I’m intrigued James, how long do you leave the growlight on and what hours of the day ? What brand of growlight are you using?
@Seymour admittedly, I got some of the cheapest glow bulbs from Amazon (briignite LED grow bulbs) the new light turned out to not be that bad in the morning so they both come on about 7am and I turn them off before bed (ideally around 9:30 but they frequently get to stay on until 11 when I’m up late)
I’ve got them on separate govee smart plugs so they come on automatically in the mornings and I just flip them off on my phone before I go into my room for the night
I’ve thought about purchasing nicer bulbs but I’m just not sure if they’re worth the price? I feel like I could have an army of these for the price of one nice one πŸ˜‚
@Seymour I also like the smart plugs because I can have them come on later on weekends (usually I just turn them on when I get up so I can sleep in as long as I want)
I have some clip on ones in my kitchen that I love but they only have the option for a 12 hour timer (or less)
@ForestCave Hey James, thanks for the reply as I do find it fascinating. I agree about the smart plug. Unfortunately I do have some of those growlights that can only be set to eg 8/9/12/16 hrs and one in particular is entirely unreliable as so comes on many hours before it is meant to based on the set time!!! So I prefer the smart plugs as I can vary the light eg over winter I cut it back some hours. And I can also measure the energy use. So to me smart plugs are the way to go and give you so many more choices. And I agree that cheaper lights can be a good and economic investment over the more expensive alternatives. Thanks again for sharing. πŸ˜€πŸ‘
