My #ChristmasCactus is getting ready to bloom! πŸ₯³πŸŒ΅πŸŒΈ My mom got it for me last winter, and it bloomed but only a few flowers. Now, I have dozens of buds! It doesn’t take much to make me happy πŸ˜‡πŸͺ΄ #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #FalseChristmasCactus floweringPlants">#floweringPlants bloomingSuccs">#bloomingSuccs #SucculentSquad #SucculentLove #Succulents #SuccerForSucculents #CactusClique #Cactus #GregGang #NewGrowth #babevila

That’s wonderful news about your Christmas cactus! It sounds like it’s thriving, especially with all those buds preparing to bloom. To help ensure a successful bloom, make sure it’s getting enough indirect sunlight and avoid moving it around too much, as it can be sensitive to changes. Water it when the top inch of soil feels dry, and give it a little extra attention with a balanced fertilizer to support its blooming process. It's amazing how a plant can bring so much joy, especially when you see it flourishing. Enjoy the beautiful flowers when they finally open!
My little one does too!! Amazing how they know!
Mine is blooming now tooπŸ’•
@SolidBroadbean that’s gorgeous! 😍
@BabeVila Nice! Mine bloomed really well last year around this time but I am not seeing bulbs yet. Any tips?
@USAGardenHub Thanks for the advice. Mine is healthy but no bulbs yet this year.
@PlantHapppy I don’t do anything special, I just keep it in bright indirect sunlight, about a foot from a southeast window, and I water it once every 7-10 days when the top couple inches feels dry. I keep the thermostat around 67-70 degrees Fahrenheit and that’s pretty much it! I did learn that they prefer to be snug in their pots, mine is in a 5” pot with glazed clay on the outside and raw clay on the inside so it can still absorb moisture when needed. I’m sure yours will bloom soon, mine is actually pretty early this year lol! πŸ’šπŸŒΏ
@BabeVila I am doing everything you are. Thank you!
@PlantHapppy you’re welcome! You will definitely get blooms πŸ€—πŸŒΈπŸŒ΅
Mine is too, however now I’m confused. I read an article today actually about Thanksgiving Cactus and Christmas Cactus and the difference in their looks. I did not really take note of the whole article because I was busy, but I kept it and will go back and read againπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
Shannon I have two Christmas cacti that haven’t bloomed since my late husband bought them home from the nursery 3 years ago. How did you do it?
@QuesterBluebill Yes, they do look different! I don’t have a thanksgiving cactus yet so I want to see other people’s πŸ˜‚ and, tis the season for blooms on both 🌸
@GoodTunicflower Hi Dianne! Three years is definitely a long time. I’m happy to help figure it out πŸ€— Forgive all the questions but it will help me understand β€”Have they been repotted in that time? What kind of light do they get? What’s their watering schedule? Have they grown at all (new leaves)? And are they in pots with good drainage? Do you fertilize? The last one I’ve found is not so important as long as the other needs are met but it can helpβ€”but the other questions are more important πŸ’š
No repotting / they are under grow lights/ I water when all soil is dry/ they have not grown new leaves/ there is good drainage/ I know nothing about fertilizing
@GoodTunicflower I would suggest repotting for sureβ€”They have probably depleted the nutrients that were in the soil when you got them. In general, it’s good to repot once a year, with nice, well-draining soil (I just use regular indoor potting mix with added perlite). I bet that will solve the problem, but also check that your grow light is putting out enough lightβ€”there are light meter apps that are good, I like the light meter in the PictureThis app, it’s very accurate. They need the equivalent of bright indirect sunlight, and my guess is that you may need stronger light if they have not grown any new leaves in such a long time. I have some excellent lights that are affordable if you would like a link. To be honest I never fertilize any of my plants, but I do use We the Wild Grow formula every time I water and all my plants churn out new leaves and flowers like crazy since I started using it about 6 months ago. However that’s not a β€œmust,” but it does give them a great boost. Also for Christmas cactus, they don’t like to dry out, so it’s good to water when they are about halfway dry. They like to be moderately moist but not soggy. I just do mine every 10 days or so, or 2 weeks in the winter. I think with fresh soil and brighter light you will see some great progress! Here are links just in case you’re interested. Grow formula (they are having a 40% off sale right now!): https://wethewild.us/products/grow-concentrate and lights: https://a.co/d/eIXUdBx β€”the lights are worth every penny! But they are STRONG so if you do get one then turn it down to 60% strength. And here are some more economical but still very good lights: LORDEM Grow Light, Full Spectrum... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B817HH49?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. I use both kinds! If you have any questions just let me know! β™₯️🌡🌸
@GoodTunicflower by the way your peace lily is BEAUTIFUL 😍
@BabeVila Thanks for the info Shannon I am also wondering if I can use we the wild crow formula on my orchid because it has never bloomed in the same amount of time. And do you rinse it out between waterings?
@BabeVila Thank you …I owe it all too you!
@GoodTunicflower you can use the Grow formula on all plants πŸ€— and I am very new to orchids and still in the learning phase lol but I do know that there are great YouTube videos for how to help your orchids bloom! β™₯️ And I’m sorry, do I rinse what out between waterings?
For my orchid i have orchid plant food mist from miracle grow. I have not used it yet. Do I rinse it after use on the orchid? I would think that would not make sense but would like to see your thoughts.
