Hi #SnakePlant , my new snake plant has one frond with a wilted tip. Not clear as to why since the rest of the plant seems to be holding up well and the sun/soil seem to be good. Should I simply lop off the wilted part or is there another recommended approach?
@braymp Hi Mark, once a snake plants tip breaks off or is damaged like this it will stop growing. Just the individual leaf not the whole plant. I would recommend cutting it off at the base with a pair of sterilized scissors. Just wipe them down with alcohol prior to cutting so you're not inadvertently transferring bacteria to the plant. The plant is currently putting its energy into a dying leaf so cutting it off allows its energy to be directed elsewhere. I'm not sure why that one single leaf is damaged and dying so I'll run through some basic care and you can determine maybe what's going on with it. Be mindful as to how often you're watering. Make sure you allow the soil to completely dry out before watering it. When it is completely dry water it thoroughly until you see water draining from the bottom of the pot. As far as light goes snake plants like sunshine and a lot of it. They are desert plants where in their natural habitat they are out in full sun soaking it all up. Also make sure it's planted into some well draining soil like a succulent soil that doesn't hold onto water but allows water to flow through freely. That's basically it. They for the most part thrive on neglect.
