Cactus crew in rehab: wish us luck!

Well, the Cactus Crew is officially in rehab...

I definitely have my candidates for most and least likely to survive picked out... Lol

Some of y'all might remember me posting about my #paperspinecactus suffering from rot. Well, I followed y'all's advice to the best of my ability with what I had on hand. (Some medical expenses came up so I wasn't able to buy *any* of the stuff y'all have told me to get recently... 😩)

🧚I decided to separate a couple of the pads to increase my chances of still having a cactus when this is all over.
🧚Then I put two in sterilized (dry) perlite with emotional support crystals at the bottom, and one is sitting on top of some river rocks/random rocks I found while living in Oklahoma (also with emotional support crystals ofc).
🧚I will occasionally be misting the ones in perlite (instead of watering them) cuz it seems perlite actually absorbs water and I'm nervous about that. The river rocks will have filtered water in them, kept well below the bottom of the cactus.
🧚 For now they're in a North facing window that gets pretty decent indirect sun all day and a tiny bit of direct sun in the mornings. I may move them to the plant room but haven't decided yet.

Wish us luck!

Bonus pic of River Song looking pretty covered in raindrops. (:

@roxyvivien @KrunchyWrap @SirLiquorice here's an update for y'all! Lmk if I'm doing something wrong, cuz I probably am... Lol 🫠πŸ₯΄πŸ˜…πŸ–€βœŒοΈ
@WickedValkyrie I've never tried rooting cacti in perlite but I often root cuttings and my 'ICU unit' plants in pumice mixed with Coco Coir and they both absorb water - that's not a bad thing for growing new roots tho .... As long as you gave the roots time to dry out real good before putting in the new pot it should be fine.. Unsure about perlite tho as I never use it.

I'd gradually move them to more light once they start growing new roots, this time of year I give even my newly repotted plants (and even small rooting stem cuttings) as much direct sun as they can get and they don't complain at all! At most, I lose a leaf or two but that's normal for repotting.

P. S. Good luck! 🀞🏼 Sending good plant vibes! 😊 πŸ’šπŸ’™ 🌡
Thank you @roxyvivien! I'll probably move them to the plant room soon so they can get more sun... πŸ™ƒ I'm so nervous! Lol I wanted a paper spine for so long and now I have one and it's fighting for it's life! πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…
@WickedValkyrie I know the feeling I always wanted a Mexican Firecracker Echeveria and I lost mine to thrips + treating her with neem & soap solution (I don't recommend that for the fuzzy plants!)

I haven't gotten another yet πŸ˜”
@roxyvivien so sorry for your loss ):
