Shout-out to my girl Elise @elisenavidad ) for supplying my addiction!! She found 2 Hoyas and a small Thanksgiving Cactus she was willing to ship me! Thanks baby girl! I appreciate you and all your help with my sanity πŸ˜‰πŸ˜ #HoyaFitchii #HoyaCompacta #thanksgivingcactus #PlantAddict #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantMail #PlantTherapy #itrunsinthefamily #helpmenotkillthiscactus
@TheOddAsity I love it!Plant friends are the best friends! πŸ’šπŸͺ΄
@princesspitstop they really are!! There’s so many fantastic people on this app!! How is your marble pothos you just got from your neighbor?
@TheOddAsity Absolutely gorgeous πŸ₯° Thanks for asking! Everytime I look at it I get a big ol' smile 😁
AWWW MY PLEASURE!? Anytime!!! They look so good and OMFG I LOVE the color of the Christmas cactus buds 🀩 I already forgot how cute it was 🀍
@PoisedAlbo dude I think it’s a fetchii or fitchii? It had a weird name on the label
@elisenavidad yep! You got it, @PoisedAlbo it’s a Hoya Fitchii
Soooo nice. Greg rocks, and Greggers rock even more
@PoisedAlbo even though it's a fitchii apparently, I think it's hard to go by the leaves alone and be sure. My first thought upon seeing only the picture was "hey, April got a hanhiae " because the leaves look so very much like mine - to my untrained eye at least. Size, shape and color are a match and the veining comes close as well.
@MusicalRedmint this US company, Proven Winners), is attempting to β€œrename” Hoyas into their own versions of plants, which is so dumb. So their tag called it a teacup Hoya and then said it was a Fitchii on their site. They’re being a bit ridiculous about it imo.
Wow, that's dumb. Sorry. I would hate that. But congrats on your fitchii. I also have it on the periphery of my "wouldn't mind getting it" wishlist. πŸ˜€
aw that's so sweet @elisenavidad ! @TheOddAsity beautiful additions! look forward to following that cactus 😍
@TheOddAsity they were naming Thai Cons… Spotsvanlyia Monstera… they got me once… mythic dragonite… aka Melo Alocasia.

Love the goodies from Elise.
@MusicalRedmint πŸ˜‚I’m glad you agree that it’s dumb.

I would! Periphery is a good place to put it cause then it can move over to the wish list πŸ˜‚. The leaves are a medium size. Thinner, but firm (as of now). As it grows I guess the leaves can get large. And I hear it’s stunning when sunstressed. The flowers are an apricot shade of orange.
@PlantJedi who was naming them? πŸ˜‚ proven winner?
@TheOddAsity proven winners…
@PlantJedi I mean, A+ for creativity… but it’s reinventing the wheel…
@PlantJedi oof. those are... names, I guess
@TheOddAsity girl, they got good. I was like… my mythic dragonite blah blah blah… learned real quick. Never trust a companies marketing scheme lol
Nah. It's worse than reinventing the wheel. Those names exist for a reason. I want to look at the tag and decide what to buy knowing what it is. And most names are crediting researchers and carry meaning beyond the name itself. If I buy a carnosa KP, I have expectations regarding the car or needs and that it will bloom late. And the cultivar is named by the one that created it.
Nobody would think of renaming Reese's pb cups into "Maximilian's totally worry-free pink clouds". Though, I have to say, mythic dragonite has quite the ring to it.
And the periphery is great. As you see, it has name recognition already. Which means that whenever I will stumble over it irl, I will take a second look. And then I will recognize it as something I might want down the road. And who knows, when I will ever see it again, if I just let it pass me by?
The periphery is dangerous because it is vast and endless πŸ˜€
@MusicalRedmint true. On all accounts!! πŸ˜‚
@TheOddAsity love that compacta! So cute!!!
@nellz4estfairyz yes! They are hard to come by here. So thankful she was willing to ship it!
@TheOddAsity I was on the hunt for one myself, and was so surprised when I found a variegated one at a local greenhouse. I felt like they read my mind lol. Usually when I go plant shopping I find cool plants but totally different than what I was looking for. Please post your progress with your compacta and any care tips because I’m still new to Hoyas and don’t want to kill mine!
@nellz4estfairyz HUMIDITY. I have found that to be the single most important factor for a Hoya. I live in Utah and have central air. So even with a humidifier in my furnace, I have cluster plants together and add a small humidifier to the mix. They’re epiphytes, so their roots can suffocate easily. Super chunky, well draining soil. Water when soil dries completely. I LOVE Hoya! They’re my favorite plants. I think I’m up to around 30 of them 😬
