I went to get a photo of the vanilla, and the begonia caught my attention, and all else slipped my mind… lil trickster! @Araceae I squirreled and got distracted by the begonia! When I go tomorrow morning, or maybe I’ll get before and afters of his new moss pole. I went with one of the two-sided flat ones instead of a normal pole. I like the poles, but I feel like I’m not great at them. I like the flatter ones so they can grow out and up.

@Idplantthat i like the one-suded flat ones! Especially those with the hexagonal holes. They're dirt cheap coz they're usually sold as a sheet for you to fold up, and the extension is vry sinple to attach. Just extended the pole for my BM Fantasy, grows soo fast!

@Araceae I want to know when I get my plant room fully set up - it’s a slow process. Once a year I clean out my plants and work a little on what to do based on how much they grew through the summer. This year I think I’ll have some of my vines that can go into their forever planters with this trellis https://a.co/d/i3MA6OX. So I want to get them a nice trellis and lay it against a wall in the house and let it start climbing my plant room. Have you seen the hexagon climbers for indoor wall climbing plants?? That’s what I’m thinking maybe next year to do. This is what I’m currently using, this is what I’m putting the vanilla one https://a.co/d/g7uJQHf how do you do your house? Just only put them in the pot either the plant or do you let them grow onto things?
I can't rmbr the seller, and all the ones i tried looking up online are like 3-5x more expensive! I just got one for 3 bucks.
I did find this one tho, the store website is thiccly.com [also on Amazon]. It looks similar in most aspect, locally made here, ships to the US. The GrowPole V3 Small seems to be the same size as the one i bought, and at the same price. I don't know abt the shipping cost however. They do have retailers selling their poles in the US, namely Plant Corner [plantcornernyc.com] and DD's Plants [ig account]. You could try them

The trellises no, i don't do trellises. Most of my climbing plants are on poles, or trailing. Some of them, like my pothos or wild-type syngonium, their roots attach themselves directly to the surface, like a wall, as with most aroids. My nepenthes hooks itself to fencing and the the hook that i use to hang it via the tendrils that hold up the pitchers. For vanilla orchids i think they can climb almost every surface. Their habit is similar to aroids—they climb a tree, when they run out of tree they start hanging down. Then they flower on the parts hanging downwards. What you could do is roughen up a wall, or attach a bunch of cork bark. Any rough surface and the plants should be able to cling onto the surface.

@Idplantthat I don’t currently have any moss pole set ups, but I wanted to share this cheap “climbing wall” we built for the living room. My hubby built the frame and I strung the wire. It functions really well and I think it’s pretty too!
@debbiedo wow! Debbie, look at that monstera! What a gorgeous, healthy, happy baby! I’m so in love with it! You and your hubby are creative and talented! 🫶🏻. My greenhouse is completely separate from the house and garage. I have two plant rooms in my house, then I have plants in the kitchen and living space area (on top of the two rooms), then I have a garage full and a greenhouse full! You’re more than welcome to ask anything you like, and I’ll be happy to help if I can. I’m not an expert on greenhouse care, but I have learned a few things 🤣
@DreamMachine Thanks Nadia! I’m pretty proud of that little design element 😂 It makes it easy to turn it around and lean it the other way and it’s super secure.
@Idplantthat I’ll bet you HAVE learned a thing or two! I think I’ll live vicariously through you for the time being. But there is a spot in my office where I’m thinking I could add a greenhouse cabinet. Or maybe even just a grow light shelf unit. Hmmm… 🤔
