First bloom for my Australian Finger Lime!

My finger lime is covered in beautiful little flower buds! This is the first year any of my citrus have bloomed and I’m so over the moon excited about it!! #fingerlime #AustralianFingerLime #HappyPlants #Citrus #NewGrowth

That’s so pretty! OMG A FELLOW RHODE ISLANDER 😱😱😱πŸ₯³
That’s such a cool looking plant! Does it produce fruit?
@PlantyPlanter Thank you! Yes, theoretically. It takes 4 years to mature long enough to produce fruit, so halfway there! Hoping it doesn’t need a buddy to pollinate it. They’re so beautiful and do very well overwintering indoors for me. The only problem I had was leaves dropping - they’re a leafy evergreen, but apparently drop ALL their leaves at once in the winter and then immediately grow them back. I learned this the hard way… tossed all of them except for this one because I thought they were dead πŸ˜…
@PlantyPlanter Oh! I thought these comments were on my cherimoya post, which I made seconds before discovering all these flowers on my finger lime. They do produce fruit - a cylindrical lime with round, juice-filled vesicles inside (they are also called caviar limes for this reason). This is the first time any of my citrus have flowered, so fingers crossed I’ll be getting some cool fruit!
@Crvidae can they be outside in the winter time? Or do you bring them in?
Omg snow roses 😍 those look so pretty!
I’m so delighted for you! Beautiful!
@PlantyPlanter They need to come inside for winter for sure. There is only one variety of citrus I’ve seen grow outdoors up here. There’s a bergamot orange tree in Wilcox park in Westerly if I remember correctly. Not sure how they do it, but they’re able to keep it alive through the winter.
