Saying goodbye to my pink princess philodendron

I’m saying goodbye to this gal. This plant has had zero love for me and I’m over it. If I follow the light requirements and the watering requirements on the plant’s label, it suffers. Listen, it’s #survivalofthefittest in #CarolinesWinterGarden and there is ZERO shame in that. You’re either going to thrive or you’re going to πŸͺ¦ but you aren’t going to haunt πŸ‘» me. I tried little one but we are through.
#GregFeedback @RJG can we make a note to perhaps add the option to turn off watering reminders on our plants. I know it’s not about me however I upload a Rest In Peace snapshot and rather than work on a personal graveyard, just like we get fertilizer reminders and the option to turn them on and off, how about a watering one with a note that it’s for plants that have passed away? Does that make sense or may e it could be easier? Not sure but it just dawned on me it may be.

It’s also sink or swim up in here. No shame. If it’s pissing you off- toss it!
That's an interesting idea!
@LauraLynne exactly!
My waffle plant hated me.
@AnthuriumQueen that's an awesome idea! I hate the idea of just deleting the plants that I've invested so much time and effort taking care of it, but also the time and effort that goes into making sure everything I do is recorded in #greg.

I'd rather turn off watering/fertilizing reminders or have separate sections for "current plants" and another one for "retired plants". It would be nice to be able to have a "sick plant" group for those plants that you're working extra hard to be exact and give it the extra TLC that it needs. Groups that are similar, but have different rules for reminders.

I wouldn't even care if I'm the only one that can see my "retired plants" category. I want to be able to physically track if I'm becoming a better or worse plant owner and if I've learned anything from the #greggang.

@TheGoodWench I think mine did too. πŸ˜…
Waffle Plants seem so tricky. Something always told me to avoid them haha
@KillerTofu Yeah, I’m giving up on that plant. I’m not usually a quitter but the recurring I’m dying no I’m living things is not my style.
Why not just delete the plant? I did that with my wife’s plants I was tired of watering. Told her to download the app πŸ˜…
@L3thologica some people get attached to the plant. I personally want to keep them until I get a replacement but you can go back and see where mine states RIP with the upload date. I also change the name. Plants have a lifespan. Imagine having a plant for 20 years and being used to seeing it. It does and you have nothing to look back at from when it first came home to its updates. Greg always you keep them organized. Some of us have been through things with our plants as our only solace. That’s happened and those I know that didn’t have anything to look back at regretted not having a series of images. If you remove the plant, you delete all data including photos. Some people don’t keep photos in clouds or external HDDs. You can also snooze the watering. I tend to move quickly when replacing one but others may not. It’s a thought quite a few have mentioned: They would rather have a graveyard. I believe the ability to turn off watering reminders may be easier in the event of plant death. It’s a *similar* code for fertilizer reminders and can be done for each individual plant. Could be easier than developing a full on graveyard for each user.
@AnthuriumQueen I hadn’t thought of it like that. Good point.
Waffle plants are hard! I had one too and it hated everything I did for it. Just toss it and buy a new plant! Lol πŸ˜†
@L3thologica Thanks! And Thank You fir asking and allowing me to answer the why behind the request. 😁
@plantlady100 They’re small and I’m into large leaf plants.waffle plants aren’t for me. I could use that name for a pretty plant like the Anthurium Regale I’m waiting for. πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³
@AnthuriumQueen perhaps staff at #GregFeedback have had the same thought as me. I do know changing things in program is often not as easy as we would think. So many pieces tied together, you make one change like that and all of a sudden people’s plants are dying because no one’s water reminders are working, or something to that effect. It’s a good idea to float that way though.
@L3thologica yes, it’s a thought to consider and that’s all we can do - make suggestions. When I write code for my site, I’m back to checking everything to make sure it didn’t throw anything else off. Been there and done that. There has to be a way to test before updating it. I do that on a child theme on a separate site before adding the new code to my public html.
I downloaded Planta trying to find the best app- this one is way better, but I did like they had a β€œgraveyard” section #rip
@AnthuriumQueen πŸ’― No shame in that.

I threw out two stem props this week that couldn't hack it in SoCal January outside.

I work too hard to have non-aesthetically pleasing, unhealthy, high-maintenance plants in my collection!

Give your best but also say goodbye quickly when the time comes...to make room for more beauty from new plants that appreciate your love, right?!
I had a waffle plant, did well for a while, then suddenly up and wilted...I tried everything to save her, even took cuttings, she went to planty heaven. Waffle plants are a never again..
@roxyvivien exactly!
@ExoticDaisy I’ve heard of that one and checked it once. Didn’t know they had a graveyard section. I like this one better too. 😁
@Sassylimey there are kids here and I’d call them what I really want to but I can’t because of said kids. But, if you’ve ever been around the English, you’d probably pick up what I’m now calling them. Last word β€œwaffle” 🀣🀣🀣
I know what you mean @AnthuriumQueen πŸ€¬πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜
