Hello everyone, I hope you are well. This is my beautiful Persian Shield plant which I just repotted into a terra-cotta pot. I purchased this plant about a month ago. The purple and dark green are amazing in this wonderful plant. #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #SucculentLove #PlantTherapy #GrowLights #GrowLights #NewPlantMom #OrchidLovers #PetsAndPlants #MonsteraMonday #PlantCorner #BeforeAndAfter #WeirdPlants @BuffCaperspurge @DreamMachine @FamedGymealily @princesspitstop @BabeVila @GreatestYuzu9 @Kaitlinfaith_ @katewarner @somewhatsara @SolaceInSunshine @ThatPlantBitch @sunnymatcha @somewhatsara

@NewMingthing40 , Hi Rhonda. This is from the web. I hope it helps. The Persian shield, scientifically known as Strobilanthes dyerianus, is a stunning ornamental plant recognized for its vibrant purple leaves with a metallic sheen. It thrives in warm, humid conditions and is often grown as a perennial in tropical climates or as an annual in cooler regions.
Growing Conditions
Light Requirements
Prefers dappled sunlight or partial shade in warmer climates.
In cooler areas, it can tolerate full sun but may require some shade to maintain leaf color.
Soil Preferences
Thrives in well-drained, rich soil.
Ideal pH range is between 5.5 and 7.5, slightly acidic to neutral.
Watering Needs
Requires consistent moisture; aim for at least 1 inch of water per week.
In hot conditions, daily watering may be necessary to prevent wilting.
Temperature and Humidity
Best suited for USDA hardiness zones 8-11.
Grows well in temperatures above 60°F; protect from frost.
High humidity is essential; consider using a humidity tray if grown indoors.
Care Tips
Fertilize with a nitrogen-rich fertilizer at the start of the growing season and again mid-season.
Pinch back the tips of the plant to encourage bushier growth.
If grown indoors, ensure it receives bright light, including some direct sunlight.”
