Weird question: does anyone have a peanut butter tree? If so, would you mind posting a picture of your leaves? I’m trying to identify this plant. I repotted it a while back, completely spaced it where I placed it, and I have two not labeled. I’m pretty sure it’s a peanut butter tree (younger), but I could be wrong. 🤣🤷🏼♀️ I thought it was coffee until I noticed the bark is a whiter shade, and the leaves have heavier hairs, which would usually negate it’s not coffee unless it’s wild? So I’m thinking it’s a peanut butter tree. 🤔🧐🤨 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #PlantCorner #PlantID #BeforeAndAfter #RarePlants #PlantLove
Okay, so tell me, does it have little hairs all over the leafs? And is your bark whiter or still pretty green?? I am so sorry, I just can’t figure out this tree, and it’s my own fault for not labeling it and just thinking I’d remember, dang goldfish memory.. I forgot, to not forget until I remember I don’t remember.. ugh, sometimes being human is such a tricky thing. 🤣🤦♀️ someone needs to adult for me today.
@DreamMachine okay! So scratch that overly long message from before! Apparently, there are different variants of P.B. fruit trees. lol I should have asked more questions to Mr. Google before I asked. 🙃😉
The way to know for sure is to take a leaf and crumble it smash it up. Peanut butter trees have a distinct smell of peanut butter. A coffee tree smells like nothing.
It's incredibly hard to tell through the photo.
I can see the fuzz you are talking about. That fuzz wouldn't be on the arabica coffee plant they are really smooth.
If it was me I would sacrifice an older leaf and give it a sniff after crushing. I do agree with you seeing that fuzz. Unless it has powdery mildew or a pest. That fuzz would NOT be on the coffee tree.

Alright, so that’s what I was thinking too. I’m so glad you mentioned something; your reassurance is always appreciated. ☺️ I checked the leaves, and they don’t have mildew or pests. However, I do believe it has a mild pathogen infection. It partially buried itself in one of the cacao trees that decided to invade. I hadn’t noticed I had a massive pineapple that needed to be transplanted right next to it, so I guess it’s not getting enough sun either. So, I removed her and moved her to my garage across from my greenhouse. I leave my back garage door and back door open so the dogs, if they’re out back, have a cool place to lay on. However, I have grow lights in there that provide a mix of natural light, and at night, I close everything and turn on a small heater. So, I moved the mystery plant, and I’ll keep checking here, shorty. I do know I lost two coffee plants to the greenhouse (they’re just mixed in with my other ones, but I think one of them is Italian, and the other is Costa Rican. I’d have to look it up). And a few I imported from Thailand… so it could be one of those? But I have to do more research to see if any of those can have fuzzy coffee leaves, lol 😂 just before I completely rule them out. Any suggestions of what else to look for? 🌬️🌸🎍🙏🫶🏻🫶🏻
