The miracle of my Phal Schilleriana

Time for a #PlantStory! This orchid (or whatโ€™s left of her!) & I have been through a lot together, & maybe I shouldโ€™ve given up on her a long time agoโ€ฆ Iโ€™ve already replaced her with another flowering size phal schilleriana in spike, with whom I have a much healthier relationship with & who makes me happy! ๐Ÿ˜˜ Still, I decided to give this baby another chance. I threw her pitiful roots & dried out husk of a stem into some water with superthrive & said, โ€œvaya con dios, nena!โ€

Lo & behold! It looks like she still had some life in her after all! She seems to be growing a new leaf & 2 keikis?? So I just placed her in a fishbowl with a cushy bed of sphagnum aka orchid icu. Iโ€™m still not sure if she will survive because unfortunately weโ€™ve been through all this before; but Iโ€™m excited to see how it all unfolds! Hopefully it wonโ€™t be more of the same emotional roller coaster ๐Ÿ˜ญ

So, I just wanted to take a minute to wonder at the magic of nature. โœจ Plants are so resilient, so adaptable! This orchid felt itself dying & found ways to propagate itself & pass on its genes. She said, โ€œI will live on through my children!!!โ€ & I think thatโ€™s beautiful. Thatโ€™s my little egomaniac ๐Ÿฅฐ

You have inspired me to use Super Thrive! I have some, but it just sits on a shelf. One of my orchids got crown rot and I lost all the leaves, but I have a stem with buds! Crazy, huh?
Oooh your orchid is trying to get pollinated, how sassy! ๐Ÿ˜œ Superthrive smells funky but it does the job! I water most of my plants with it every 2 weeks or so!
Donโ€™t give up my leaves was so heathy. Then POW. I kept putting a small amount of water on the roots and putting ice cubes on the sides now I see new growth. I am sooo PROUD. Hang in there.
I've had my orchid for 3 yrs now, but just now getting into learning more about them: how can you identify a keiki??
@ShibaSunroom a keiki will be easy to spot because itโ€™s like a brand new plant growing in the wrong place lol they can grow from the flower stems or on the base of the plant. New leaves only come up from the center of the crown so if you see them growing somewhere else then itโ€™s a keiki!
@melaza ohhhh!! Thank you!! That makes a lot of sense!!
