Happy #cpclubthursday everyone! Today I wanted to share a picture of my ping garden, which has been doing its job very effectively as you can see. I tend to get fungus gnats, and these little pings help me keep them from getting too out of hand. Plus, they are just really cool plants that come in many varieties. #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #Pinguicula #pings #ping #CarnivorousPlants #CarnivorousClub #PlantTherapy #Butterwort #MexicanButterwort #LaSiguanaba
10ft to light, indirect
5” pot with drainage
Last watered 5 days ago
@LaSiguanaba I wanted to have more of my pinguicula gypsicola so i have propagated 2 leafs and they have been doing good since the last few weeks I'm also putting this on leaf day friday.ðŸĪ—🍃ðŸŠī
That’s so cool! They look beautiful! I also named my pings ping garden lol
The picture didn’t upload for some reasonâ€Ķ
Beautiful looks like a smiley face
@GenerousRedCap Thanks!
@UpfrontDisphyma Great job on the propagation!!! Was it difficult? I’ve been wanting to try propping some of my carnivorous plants.
@Fireplace Nice looking pings! And since they don’t seem to be covered in fungus gnats, great job! I’ve been so frustrated with these gnatsâ€Ķ ðŸŦĻ
@FitBrowallia Thanks, I think so as well! I also like that they are practical 😄. I’ve really got to figure out how to get rid of these fungus gnats. Any advice? I ended up collecting a lot of plants very quickly and am still figuring things out.
@LaSiguanaba I started repotting mine a few days after getting new plants. It seemed like they were holding water. I used neem oil cinnamon and honestly I ended up repotting all my plants to get a handle on them. I also switched soil because I opened the bag and the gnat came out of the bag. Stay strong and on top of it they will go away. Pebble on top of the soil works also
Oh my goodness, your pings are amazing!! They're so adorable -- I especially like the top right one and the bottom left one.
They're beautiful! Where do you get your pings?
@FitBrowallia Thanks for the advice! I’ve been doing a lot of repotting this week as I prepare for fall, but I can see the advantage of repotting when you bring a new plant home. You never know the conditions a plant has been growing in, and the last thing I want do is bring pests home. I also like the idea of pebbles on top of the soil—that looks really nice and if it prevents gnats, that’s great!
@FitBrowallia How do you use cinnamon?
@LaSiguanaba just shake on the top of the dirty and when I replant I mix it in the dirt
You can also get those yellow sticky traps
A little hydrogen peroxide in the water
Beautiful! Gorgeous! What more do I have to say
@LaSiguanaba looks beautiful âĪïļ
@LaSiguanaba ha! The amazing thing is I think my sundews have actually caught them. I haven’t seen them since I got the gnatsâ€Ķ I also did give some fertilizer water and some of the leaves burned off of the pings. One of them died. I think I learned my lesson 😅 I’ll look into acquiring another ping and some propagation- I’m tired of those tiny green ones! 😆
@LaSiguanaba I feel like propagating pinguiculas seem to be really easy they're like succulents just pull one leaf off and just wait for them to grow new plants although I kind of feel like it's not going to make another one due to an accident I had putting the moss with perlite but at least I got two of them that's all that matters maybe I'll just wait till they the original plant order two new plants get bigger to a point where they end up growing to the exact same size as the mother hoping they offshoot new plants or I'll just wait until i feel like propagate a new leaf from the other plants.
@Fireplace I know right every time i put up my images on my plants answering questions and doing posts it ends up not showing up or ends up glitching like it has a glitch on the bottom of the photo every time i take it.ðŸ˜Ĩ📷ðŸ“ļðŸ‘ū
@Fireplace I also notice you have a resurrection plant cool. I'm wondering if you mind telling how you care for it and did you have any issues of it molding or not just wondering.
@Merranda Thanks Merranda! I bought this kit from California Carnivores. It was advertised as coming with 3 pings but it ended up coming with 5 plants!!! 😁 Here is the link: https://www.californiacarnivores.com/collections/mexican-or-tropical-butterworts/products/pinguicula-garden-kit
@FitBrowallia I just ordered some of those sticky traps, and I’ll try cinnamon. Thanks for the tips. 😊
@Plants4Prez Thank you Julia!
@LaBori276 Thank you!
@Fireplace My pings seem to do a much better job at catching fungus gnats than my sundews. Those guys better start earning their keep! 😉😁ðŸĪĢ
@UpfrontDisphyma I really want to start propagating my carnivorous plants. Maybe I’ll start with a leaf pull from one of these pings! 😁
@LaSiguanaba You do that I hope the best luck of you!😄👍
@UpfrontDisphyma you stick it in clean water just enough to cover the roots. I also did forget to change water and they molded, I’m storing them in boxes for now. Also make sure they get enough light (bright, indirect works for me)
@Fireplace Okay thanks.
@LaSiguanaba Ping ping ping pong !!!! 😀👍ðŸĪĐ
@UpfrontDisphyma no problem. Change the water every day though. 👍ðŸŧ
@Seymour Bing Bong? 😂
