We wanted to share that we’ve made a small update to the criteria to become a Top Contributor.
✅ To join the blue check club:
- Have 5 answers chosen as ‘Best’ by the poster
- Set yourself a fun, custom username
- Draft a little bio so folks know who you are
- Upload a profile pic to your oasis!
We’d love to hear your thoughts on where you’d like to see the Top Contributor program grow in the future! We know you loooove the mugs, what other kinds of rewards would you like to see?

@KikisOasis agreed! If we're currently a top contributor, but don't meet a new criteria, will we no longer be top contributors?
I love all of this!!! I’m still in learn mode (new plant mama here)- I want to help others but find it hard bc I don’t know a lot yet! Would love there to be additional ways to earn top contributor. For example - engagement with Greg and Family, fun facts we learn as new plant parents, following up with our plants progress when we follow advice, etc
Other reward ideas I would love to see @Kiersten :):):)
-Bonus/free months for SuperGreg (my referral months are about to run out soon!)
-Enamel pins! I collect them and they are kinda my thing.
-Maybe some sort of plant journal with a template on each page where we can track growth old school paper style
-Moisture meters or some sort of fun poker with a Greg topper so people can check their soil moisture (since this is such a common problem/question!)
-Some sort of physical name tag for plants - something we can write on and put in the soil. Resuseable would be best!
-Greg themed sticky traps (summer is coming soon and fungus gnats will make a come back!)
-I always love a reusable tote.
-I too, would rock a Greg tshirt on the days I’m not wearing my Jungle House Goods tshirt.
-I bet I can think of some other creative ideas. Will report back!

@BotFarm me too! Maybe a range of colores check marks. Newbies work towards earning an orange one and then the next step is another color. Then people can see how experienced you are by the color of your check mark. And the newbies aren’t thrown into answering questions. Plus, not everybody is marking answers as best answers either.

@Katy410 YES 🙌🏻 a color scale of checkmarks! And have ultimate Greg friends and contributors who have the Greg logo with a cape!! But also, I don’t like the pressure of picking best answers. Sometimes there are several good answers, mediocre answers, and other times nothing but random comments to get points 😅 Separately, I’m too analytical to choose the best answer immediately, unless I know they work and are truly the best answer! Wait, the other ways work really good too! Daaaahhh! 😵💫 🤪
@Coolcatsnplants Aw man 😔 I know it’s a huge bummer, but since rolling out community we’ve had to introduce some rules for usernames. Usernames longer than 15 characters were extending past the end of the screen and we want to make sure everyone can read the whole thing!

Two other ideas I thought of!
-Window clings that are suncatchers. I have like six of these from Etsy in different designs (providing link for example). So beautiful. I have rainbows everywhere!

-For folks wanting different shades of check marks - what about milestone badges instead? So like - first plant added, first comment added, top comment, watering streaks, etc. Kind of like FitBit if anyone has badges there. @Kiersten is there a way to take off the username character limit? my username was @Taylor_Made_Blooms but in order to save my bio I had to limit my characters to 15 so now I’m @TaylorMdeBloomz but if possible I would like to add an “s” on bloom

I would actually love to work with someone to design a plant-care caddy—something specially designed to tote around all the things we need when we’re doing plant care chores. If Greg branches out into creating any product lines, I think this would be an awesome one. (I realize creation of products is a big idea and has nothing to do with being a top contributor, but while we’re throwing out ideas… 🙂)
@CultivateEdu I agree with not liking having to get best picked answer cause there is too much pressure as they majority of posts have good points in them ☺️
@FinlayQuinn83 me too! So many people answer with the same answer or add to an answer that it is hard to pick one answer as the best. Plus, what works for one person, may not work quite the same for another: ex- sticky traps, cinnamon, nematodes, chemicals vs organic for plant pests. And depending on where in the world you are, you may or may not have access to some of the items. 🤷♀️ I know it should be a helpful thing, but I like reading through everyone’s comments and seeing the convos about worked or not.
