So I’ve recently received some new #CarnivorousPlants in my #PlantMail including several little #Pinguicula that all arrived in their succulent form, which i was not expecting and don’t really know what to do. I’ve been researching them and the specific requirements for each unique variety, seems the ones I have all have the same requirements which is to water with saucer etc , but allow it to go dry within a few days and stay dry a few days before refilling the saucer. So.. yeah, that’s what I’m going to try and do with these plants but I’m wondering if my setup will be safe for them and healthy? They are all split up into 2 little self watering pots with pingu soil in there with a little smag moss in the bottom to help keep the soil from eroding and distilled water in the reservoir. I will manually empty them if they still contain water in a couple days ( I potted them up last night) and then wait a couple more days drying out before watering again? Thanks to anyone with some tips or advice on this topic!! Pictures include my new pings in question in the first pic and second picture is all my pings together in a family photo! Cool !! I love seeing everyone’s CP’s! I am not brave enough to attempt them. I do have an African violet about to bloom! You would appreciate it!! It had huge suckers on it and so I removed them and only one survived … but it was a learning experience for sure ! And I need to repot this one soon… but the violet medium I bought sucked bad and would act hydrophobic … I even tried taking a corsage pin and poked thru the bottom of the pot up into the soil…. So I need some advice on what medium to use when I repot her…
@Hoyaobsessed so I use exclusively Espoma organic African violet potting mix and it seems to work well for me! Your violet is beautiful! I think I might have to increase the humidity around my violets because they aren’t really budding up like I thought they would be by now. Or I’m doing something else wrong πŸ˜‘ but I hope that suggestion helps your plants and your situation! Thanks for posting:)
@Blueberrypie mine was not blooming for the longest time …. So every time I water I have been feeding it a half dose… and then the leaves got greener and I now have buds! I’ll check that medium mix out thanks!! Edited comment … I literally just looked at what I used for my baby suckers and that brand same bag is what I used πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ
Oh wow that is quite a collection and very beautiful I might add 😍
@Hoyaobsessed in preparation for my African Violets to come, I bought the Espoma Organic African Violet potting mix in this picture...hope that helps.
