I’ve been watering and cleaning plants almost the whole day, and I feel like I haven’t gotten anywhere! 🤣 Does anybody else feel like that when they get going? 🤦‍♀️ #HappyPlants #wateringhole #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #PlantTherapy #GrowLights #PetsAndPlants #PlantCorner #PlantShelfie
@Idplantthat YES!! 😂🤣 Except yesterday I paused to buy plants online too 🤣🤣
@Idplantthat what is that first one? It’s gorgeous and right up my alley, I love those heartleaf textured/stripey ones 🤤
@DreamMachine haha ha I love you 💕 Nadia! You simply crack me up. 😂 I believe that is a Philodendron rugosum (pigskin philodendron).
@Idplantthat you crack me up too and I love you! ❤️ 😂 I can’t believe I didn’t have that one on my wishlist yet! I just ordered a verrucosum and a plowmanii 🥳
@DreamMachine oh, I love those two! I have a new unrolling right now on my Verrucodum! You’ll love them for sure. 👍
@Idplantthat ooh yay!! I’m so excited!
@DreamMachine keeps me posted! I’ll let you know when I’m shipping next too, by the way! I haven’t forgotten you, just slow 🤣
Right here, right now -- just finished today's waterings (and cursing Greg for having no useful concept of winter watering dormancy) and... does it ever end? And why won't the rest of today's tasks just sort themselves out? I'm busy! I HAVE PLANTS TO MANAGE!!!
@DreamMachine 🤣👌🏻
@BravePinkpoui ha ha ha 🤣 I’m so glad I’m not alone! I tell myself it’s winter, you can reel back the watering… but then I always seem to find another plant dry… 🤦‍♀️ I swear I don’t know where they all came from! 🤣🫶🏻
@Idplantthat I was just thinking, I should be prepping for spring! I have a lot of repotting to do and I think spring should hurry up and get here!
It’s been unseasonably warm this year and so I have skipped winter this year. Too bad the worst is yet to come (mostly snow shows itself in February and March and goes into April).
But wishful thinking. And every time there is more than 5 plants to water, I’m scratching my head ‘didn’t I just water those?’ It never ends😍
@IWantThatPlant ha ha ha we have leaves of vine! I agree with you, it’s been such a warm winter. ❄️ We also get a lot of snow and snow in February/March. It’s so funny you think it’s going to slow down.. and then it feels like you never did 🤣
Today I misted down my two plants that remind me of Washington state. They love the humidity/micro-mist bottle! I was thinking that I am going to have to repot at least 4 of my big plants, and I haven’t fertilized the plants that I didn’t repot! Mixed up a gallon of fertilizer and will give them some next weekend after everyone gets watered tomorrow. My pagoda lipstick plant is blooming, y’all!!
@HolyLacealoe oooh! 😲 I want to see all of them! You are reminding me I gotta repot all my big plants this coming spring… oh god… it’s gonna be a lot! I need how to grow or 3d print another me, but better at staying on tasks… 🤣🤣🫶🏻 please post photos!
🙋🏿‍♀️ yup... I've been transferring older hoya to PON and it is taking forever.
@IWantThatPlant lol, the problem with my “didnt I just water those?” is that sometimes I totally did just water then. Early. And I forgot to mark them . Then it’s a guessing game of what day I did it! 😂
@HolyLacealoe I also want to see pics! 🙋🏼‍♀️ And why do they remind you of Washington state? 🌿🩶
@HolyLacealoe Me too me too! 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️ What Nadia said @DreamMachine ! I’d love see your plants that remind you of Washington State 🌲🍎
My pagoda lipstick and her lovely blooms. My asparagus fern hides beneath. They remind me of WA because they both love being misted every other day and in WA the humidity is so high and it rains at least a little every day for about 6 months of the year.
These are the 4 that I know I’m going to have to repot. My variegated fig, my white bird of paradise, my monstera, and the cobra monstera.
@HolyLacealoe yowza!!! That fern is amazing! That is some good plant parenting keeping it alive and healthy!!
@AwesomePlants , thank you. I have to say that since moving to Cali I have to be more vigilant about the humidity levels.
@HolyLacealoe Those are gorgeous!! Those stalks are so thick! What kind of monstera is that last photo
It’s a cobra monstera
@DreamMachine that always helps
@Idplantthat your hard work is paying off they are beautiful
@IWantThatPlant agree don’t forget the other 5 that just got water and they look like they about to die
@Idplantthat @HolyLacealoe how often do you repot. I find that I’m repotting when I don’t have tooo @DreamMachine
@HolyLacealoe gorgeous
@FitBrowallia @HolyLacealoe @AwesomePlants @DreamMachine I’ve read you pot every two years. That’s when most soil nutrients start to be ‘running low’? But that’s just what I’ve read? Anyone else know more?
These three buddies look like they are finally adjusting. I got this right after Christmas as a gift for myself. Anyone else do that? 🤣 After Christmas, Christmas gift because it’s cheaper! 🌬️ I don’t mind my messing up the plant room, my cat ending up playing with the puppies, and some plants took the beating. 🤦‍♀️
@HolyLacealoe ooh! It’s so pretty! 🤩
@Idplantthat so pretty. Yes I bought a few after Christmas also
@FitBrowallia @Idplantthat @HolyLacealoe I repot when I find I’m watering way more often than I used to, which indicates I’ve got a lotta roots. Or, I repot when I just don’t want to water as often. OR I repot when I find my soil is *not* ever drying out and then I either change the soil or size down. Or I repot when the nursery soil is really not good for the plant. There’s probably more reasons I just can’t think of right now 🤔
@Idplantthat yes I did too!! They’re not here yet but 💯
@DreamMachine thanks. I repot when I first get them. Since most of my plants are starters I want to make sure they don’t have those cages and I notice the soil stays wet to long. If I notice wilting or yellowing or browning leaves I sometimes will repot them. Honestly I think I repot to soon.
@FitBrowallia , the girls on the shelves have been in those pots for about 2 years. Lol, I really had to stop and think about that. Hmmm, I may need to start adding that information on the pots. 🧐
@FitBrowallia I totally get taking the cages and things like that off. For me, I do find that yellowing/browning/wilting are not often caused by the soil itself, but usually a moisture or light issue, so I usually only repot when I get bare root or starter plants, or when my plant is healthy but just needs a different size and/or more or less water content with current soil.
@DreamMachine I’m going to restrain from repotting so early 🤞
@FitBrowallia you can do it!! 🥳 Cheering for you!! 🙌🏼
When I got home from Florida everything needed to be watered, of course. It took me about 2 weeks to get to everything. A few may not have survived, we will see what doesn’t come back. I was impressed with those who looked like they didn’t care if they ever got watered. The three ponytail palms looked good as new, as did the money tree, string of hearts, and all pothos, the Hoyas, the rubber plant and baby rubber plant. The albuca and hoya kerii. Everything has been watered and I am starting in the second round. I can restart my old method of doing a section of the plants each weekend, going by where they are in the house #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy
@AC73LoveCats how long were you gone for over the holidays?
@FitBrowallia, what did you get? I was going through my list of items in transit, going, “Hmm, I really hope they get here before it snows again.”
@Idplantthat I don't really have a timeline, I just look at the plant to tell. I'm planning on switching plants to pon to get away from soil mixes
@Idplantthat 2 weeks.
@Idplantthat I’m not sure which ones you missed. All was in good condition traveling through the snow. The tops of snake plant were damaged with being wet to long. I cut that portion off but now it brown and hard. No worries another plant mail arriving tomorrow 🥳🎉
@AwesomePlants so I tried to switch a while back to pon and I epically failed. I killed the plants I tried. Is there a trick to it?
@AC73LoveCats how fun! You said you went to Florida? Do you have family there?
@FitBrowallia oh! Do you have pictures? So we can see the before and afters of your planting adventures?
@FitBrowallia oh sorry, I mean I have some plants in transit still, arriving from a few different locations and one also tomorrow… but I’m worried about the weather in my state… what plant of yours is arriving tomorrow??
@Idplantthat here is what I’m getting tomorrow
@FitBrowallia ohh! 😮 I love it! 🥰 I can’t wait to see your old man cactus 🌵 it’s been one I’ve loved for years.
@Idplantthat here are the ones I remember. Wow I know I got more. I haven’t repotted the 1st and the last ones. Scared to repot the fiddle leaf she’s already dropped a bunch of leaves
@Idplantthat I started this plant journey with cactus and succulent. I stopped buying them because they died each and every time. I do know that I do have succulents in my jungle they’re not the same. I’m trying cactus again they are so pretty.
@Idplantthat YES! I never get finished in one day! IT IS A TRUE LABOR OF LOVE! 🪴🌺
@Ponytailmom so well said a labor of love 💕
@FitBrowallia I love your first one. I can understand being worried about repotting. I swear I can’t keep a cinnamon or tea plant alive if I have to repot. But one day it’s going to happen 🤭
@Idplantthat 🤷🏿‍♀️ IDK. This will be my first time really trying it. I only transitioned cuttings and some older plants that needed a repot. I'm going to give it or month or so to see how they do before I start transiting others.

Last time I tried for props, I didn't use self watering pots with wicks so I'm hoping this is what I should have done before.
@FitBrowallia nice haul coming in. I was the same way with cacti and succulents until I got the correct soil mix for them. I neglect my poor things because I keep forgetting about them but they treat me right and manage not to unalive themselves due to my neglect...

Ty for the reminder, it's been like 2 months since I've tended to some so let me go check on them now before I forget 🤣. Every time remember them, I forget where I put my cactus tongs at...no pokes for me!!
@FitBrowallia cacti repotted and watered. My bunny ears is a bit worse for wear, but I'll get them under a grow light asap
@Idplantthat didn’t realize that’s not the one I was talking about it was the string of bananas and the fiddle leaf
@AwesomePlants when I forget to water or wait that long when I touch it it folds in half dead 😵
@FitBrowallia saying thank you again!!

Because I just "found" 😳some more that I accidentally put behind something on a bookcase, probably MONTHS ago.🫣

3 are still hanging on
2...🤷🏿‍♀️ what they used to be
1...I'll water and see if something happens 🤣
@AwesomePlants anytime
@AwesomePlants @Idplantthat @DreamMachine @IWantThatPlant @HolyLacealoe here is today’s plant mail. 7 of the 8 was great. I know what the 8th is supposed to be but it’s not
Here they are
@FitBrowallia may I ask where you usually buy from? Thats a good price for a heat pack
@FitBrowallia great looking haul! Do you know what the 8th is?
@DreamMachine it’s supposed to be a dwarf golden brush ginger plant. Here is what I bought and what I got
@DreamMachine I buy from a few shops on Etsy. The cactus came from sky garden by phoenix
@FitBrowallia in the first picture behind the old man, is that an Summer Sunset Asiatic Jasmine?? It’s gorgeous!
@Idplantthat yes it is. The first one died on me and I’m trying it again
@FitBrowallia Oh, please keep me posted on it if you don’t mind. I love jasmine plants, and I recently just discovered these colors in the jasmine varieties.
@Idplantthat will do
Does anyone think I could get away with transplanting her early? I swear she’s trying to grow enough to get herself up and onto the rafters so she can start taking over the greenhouse. Ha ha ha it’s kinda crazy. She’s a Fire-star Orchid otherwise known as a Reed Orchid. But please let me know!
@DreamMachine I was just gonna ask that!!
@FitBrowallia What r u doing differently w ur Jasmine? I have Asiatic as well as 2 pink that i adore but the Asiatic is loosing lots of leaves; all green, not a yellow smidge on ANY of them & she isnt thinned out & looks bushy & quite healthy so idk y im complaining but i hate to see leaves in soil or on floor i feel as rho i failed somehow!! My pinks i put in same hanging basket (handmade for me w/Tree of Jericho engraved). All biodegradable too!! Tyvm!! (in my bedt Elvis improv)!!
@Idplantthat Tx for the both of us! Ill just think football & ill remember!!
@BuffCaperspurge Tacy you are doing a lot better than me. My asiatic looks naked. And my first jasmine oh my. Here are pictures of them. I hope the new jasmine shows out so these two can stop their shenanigans. Each one gets close to the garbage and the voices in my head stops me from tossing them
@Idplantthat I’m not the best person to ask that question because she would be in a new pot already 😂
@Idplantthat A yr is ok or if ur plant doubles in growth whichever comes first but that IS the correct reason
@FitBrowallia Lol i hear ya!! Those wiry stems on pink/winter jas look weak but theyre scrappy. I just got the Asiatic in Sept so give me time to screw up!! Lol. Just stick to ur plan & u will be great!!
@FitBrowallia Well there ARE exceptions, like ive transferred a plant to Terra Cotta from plastic for obvious reasons. U can use same soil if fresh enough; also i use SuperThrive vitamins in my water.. I DID have to repot my Calathea 3 times in a yr (i think shes doing steroids behind my back!!!) lol
