DIY plant cabinet success and toddler's bloom π
My DIY plant cabinet has become a propagation station and rescue rehab center. Iβm also experimenting with several different prop methods and am looking forward to seeing how things turn out (water, soil, sphagnum). So far just about everything I put in this cabinet has taken off π A few days ago my toddler pulled that bulb up roots and all, so I planted it for him and itβs blooming! #StartThemYoung #PropagationStation #GrowLights #PlantCabinets #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantShelfie #PlantCorner #NewGrowth #PropBox #MommaNature #GrowYourOwnWay #PlantCabinet
@Sassylimey thank you! We actually didnβt plant the grape hyacinth so my husband has always just called them weeds and mowed over them, the horror π« my almost 2 year old brought it to me and said βoopsβ as if he didnβt intentionally pull it up. Iβm considering pulling up the rest and planting them in my flower bed where theyβll be safe from at least the mower π
@angelikam thank you!
This #Zebrina was from a rescue and the rest of the plant wasnβt salvageable (except the second little cutting in the background). Plants want to live! Look at those roots π₯°
@PlantMompy I got the cabinet for super cheap from an estate sale and installed the lights myself! My toddler can see the plants but canβt reach them. If you have room check FB marketplace for china cabinets or curio cabinets. It was a fairly easy project!
@GraceC I got an old cheap China cabinet from an estate sale and installed grow lights from Amazon. There are holes drilled in several places that you canβt see without looking for them to run the cords through to the back. On one side the back panel was loose so I just fed the cords through π The switch for the lights is just out of sight on the back so I can get to it easily. It was not very hard if you know how to use a drill! Between the cabinet and the lights, it was only about $100. The inside of my cabinet was about 47 inches and the lights are 24 inches each, so they couldnβt go directly in line with each other. It took maybe an hour start to finish. Iβm really happy with how it turned out.
@MommaNature niceee! Iβm gonna have to try it! It looks so fun!
@MommaNature our house has some really neat upper cabinets in the dining room, with outlets on the bottom and I've actually been toying with the idea of converting them π€
@PlantMompy DO IT!!! It has been amazing for my plants and my mental health having them in plain sight π
