Chicago Hardy Fig
I honestly thought that my fig tree that I bought last year was a goner. The branches at the top turned black and there was no new leaf growth. Even though it's beyond hardy in my zone ,7 in Maryland, I made a mistake.
It was still a young tree, so I should have winterized it in late fall to avoid the branches turning black. I took off the black parts.
A few days ago my husband said to give it another year. And if it doesn't grow, we'll just get a new one .
I guess this fig tree heard him and freaked out because look what I found.....new growth coming from the roots!!!! My little Chicago fig is growing fig tree branches!!!!!
