This is the story of how I repotted my Pearls n Jade Pothos, overwatered it, let it sit in water for who knows how long, and it died of complete and total root rot. So in order to avoid losing the remaining leaves, I have chopped the whole thing into various sections of nodes and I’m going to restart the entire plant as water propagations. The soil is actually the problem. It lets root rot fungus grow because there's no light and soggy soil has bad airflow, which also grows fungus.
Having only water is actually fine because it can move, lets light in, has oxygen, and doesn't grow fungus. Algae grows in it though, so water has to be changed out occasionally or algae takes over.

@nellz4estfairyz Just an observation but isn't it weird how a plant can get root rot by sitting in wet soil so to fix it we cut them and put them directly into water which was the problem in the first place?? Just sayin' 🤷

@princesspitstop I agree and I thought that over myself as far as what would be the best rescue plan. After attempting to ignore the dying plant for a couple weeks, hoping it would just bounce back when I really investigated it closely. All the different vines were dead and dying at the soil and even just falling right out of the soil because the roots had all died so the remaining leaves weren’t getting any water at all after the roots died off and the vines died off so they were just withering and that’s where the plan to take a whole bunch of cuttings and soak them in water and then water propagate came in. I literally soaked them in that bowl for like two days and they all plumped right up. Now I have them all in various glass jars with water and a couple drops of super thrive. Hoping to bring my beautiful plant back.
@princesspitstop I havnt had time lately to interact in the community on Greg or on any social media in quite a while because we had a whole thing happen at work with a huge network outage, and my house is still under construction, and I was trying to move into my new office during all this, and then on top of all that my car broke down in the middle of the road! lol all that to say that I miss seeing you/talking to you here on Greg. You always make me laugh!😆
@nellz4estfairyz I agree, that is the best way to preserve the plant and not only that multiply it into a whole bunch of Pothos! They grow so fast too so it won't be long before they all have good roots and ready to be planted back into soil if you choose. I know how it feels to lose a plant so really it's a good thing that you caught the issue in time to save it! 😊💚💚💚
@nellz4estfairyz Well aren't you precious 💕💕 I've been feeling super emotional lately and you just made me cry with your sweetness 😢 it's ok crying is healing 💞 hahaha I'm sure with all that going on in your life you've wanted to cry a few times as well. In my recent state they would have had to have me committed! I'm praying that life eases up on you. It's hard when it feels like the second you stand up you're knocked back down again. Even though you know that things are going to work out in the end it's the inconveniences in-between that makes us wonder if it ever will. Hang in there! 💪😁 I hope to see you on here more often 💖💖💖
