You can take it out of the soil and see if there are any black or mushy roots. I water mine thoroughly but only once in a great while. At least a couple weeks or more, less often if dormant (no leaves).
Do you have any current pics you could share? You might need to repot her in fresh soil, and check the roots for rot while you're at it. Plastic pots hold onto moisture much longer than porous pots, so you might also consider switching it over to terracotta, which allow the soil to dry out much faster 😊
I am not an expert on these but have had two of them for a year. I find they go dormant every so often by losing all their leaves. Then they will gain them all back when they want to. They have bloomed once in that time. I got them in Florida and now have them in a window at work where they get several hours of filtered sunlight per day @livslillies
Hi Olivia- that just happened to me and I had to repot mine in drier soil. too much water promotes root rot fast with Desert Roses. Once I repotted mine- all was well and we got tons of flowers. But they do go dormant so check your soil first. 😊
@AC73LoveCats @AlertLemongrass thank you! any tips on how to figure out if it’s root rot or dormancy ?
Take it out of the soil to see what the roots look like. If they’re not smelly, soft or black, they are normal roots and if it has shed all its leaves, it is dormant. Take off the bad places in the roots, repot and water, if you find root rot. Thanks for best answer!
