Seedlings!!
This past weekend I took some time and potted up all of the Venus Fly Trap seeds I've been getting. Im starting to think maybe I shouldn't of pollinated that many flowers because they're still going!! I ended up filling around 5 3" pots. Im going to have to repot them in a few months if a good amount of the seeds germinate since I definitely put too much seed in each pot πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ.
Some of the VFT seeds that I had potted up about a month ago have sprouted too! Its so cool knowing that they're grown from the seeds of my own plants. They dont have their first traps yet, but I'm excited for when they do. Hopefully in the coming weeks more seeds sprout!
The Sarracenia seedlings that I've been growing since they sprouted roughly two months ago are also just the cutest things. I adore their tiny pitchers so much. This past month ive noticed them taking off as well! Its surprising since the majority of these are S. leucophylla "albino", and leucophylla don't really take off until late summer/early fall. Makes me wonder if new seedlings are different! Its very difficult to get good photos of them, so please excuse the quality of the pictures.
Also, a photo of my biggest venus fly trap seedling that I planted sometime may of last year. After dormancy, it came back literally double the size it was last year!

So glad you posted - I was looking at seeds this morning but have never started anything from seed and was really nervous about trying it!
Congrats, Merranda! Very cool to see so many baby VFTs growing!
Looking at your post again I can see the tiny sarracenia pitchers better when I zoom in - I thought they were all baby VFTs in different stages of growth πŸ˜… baby plants are so cute!
Looks like your doing and awesome job! Those sarra seedlings are cool😎
Sry to hijack your post but wanted to share this with you! I thought it was kind of cool lol
@TheConservator that is cool! Is that trap facing downwards? I wonder if its a mutation or if it just grew that way because of the traps above it. Thanks for sharing!
Very cool @Merranda ! How did this end up working out?
@LaSiguanaba It turned out well! Maybe a little too well, lol! Nearly every single seed in each pot sprouted. So now I've got a crazy amount of venus fly trap seedlings πŸ˜… ! Hoping that I'll get some cool flytraps out of it though, since I didn't use all typical venus fly traps when I was pollinating the flowers. πŸ˜„
@Merranda That’s awesome! I planted a tray of mixed CP seeds and some sprouted, but today it looks like a cat got to it and now the soil is messy and turned up. πŸ˜‘
@Merranda I should have grown them in a window πŸ˜‰
@LaSiguanaba oh no!! I grow mine in a screened in pooldeck, so it keeps the wildlife out. Maybe, so you could still grow them outside, you could make some sort of dome to go over them? Just an idea, not sure how well it'd work. Hopefully they somehow come back or if you try again no cats mess it up!
