Why are the leaves drying at the edges?

Why are the leaves drying at the edges?
1ft to light, indirect
8” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 week ago
They are drama queens. It might be that the humidity is too low. Sometimes, too high of a mineral content in the water also can have that effect. (E.g. my hard tap water would be a no go for them.) Those are the most likely suspects as far as I know.
A southern exposure and 1ft away from light source is probably too harsh for a Calathea unless you’ve got a curtain or something to filter the light. As @MusicalRedmint already said these plants are drama queens & difficult to keep happy. Humidity, good water (typically not tap water) and plenty of filtered bright light is the key.
@MariansOasis I should explain that my plant is I foot away from patio door to screen porch so no direct sunlight. The last time I watered I used distilled water from the bottom. Thanks for your help.
@MusicalRedmint I didn’t know this lady lived drama. I watered from bottom with distilled water. Thanks for your help. I will continue to treat her as the royalty she is.
Here’s what Leonardo is doing now!
