Good morning☕️🌞 to #TheThread BOOHOO😢 its Monday. Hope everyone had a great weekend and got a chance to relax a bit. I might have relaxed a little to much🤷♂️. Im hoping for an easy week at work so i can make up for my overly relaxing weekend. Maybe ill get some of the stuff i planned on doing done before next weekend. What did you all do over the weekend? Other than watch our AMAZING #petparade 🥰🙌! I know i loved it and it seamed to be a hit for others in the greg community to judging by my inbox that day lol.
So for our plant show today ive decided to HIGHLIGHT @Araceae trip to japan where hes visited tons of cool sites and seen some amazing things! His picture dump on #TheThread yesterday morning was just OUT OF THIS WORLD🚀🛸🪐! These planted tanks and vivariums are from a city aquarium in Sapporo japan and the ADA lab just outside! Ill let the STUNNING PHOTOS of perfection speak for themselves🤩🤩🤩! Enjoy the show!

Fun fact: discovered there’s probably a porcupine 😳 living in the gigantic redwood, next door. This was under my ladder the other day. Mother Nature’s always full of surprises! P.S. I live in suburbia, 1970’s neighborhood, so not where you’d expect a wild animal.

Good Monday morning ..(I’m not really that excited it’s Monday honestly) but I’ll give it a go! My oh my hasent the thread list of names gotten long !! Super cool!! Mondays are always crap at work… trying to get the week planned out,,, flower processing day…. I have payroll to process… I have taxes to pay 😂😂 @DesertGreen I live in Texas and out at my father in laws property our dogs have gotten a face full of those quills a few times… 😡 you would think they would learn…

Crazy, right? A couple of weeks ago (at night),, my neighbor thought he saw a possum run across his backyard. Probably was a porcupine. They also have an orange tree that’s been fruiting for the past couple of weeks, and I’ll find some in my backyard. Wish the little devils would throw away the rinds in the trash can, instead of my backyard. 😂
@TheConservator the quill was under my ladder rung, under my neighbor’s orange tree. I bet it was happy to have a place to sit and eat his orange in peace from the dogs 🤣

Good morning guys! TRAVEL DAY! I’ll be spotty until next Sunday as we’ll be out of town to Colorado. Kids’ first flight, doing lots of hiking and nature-y things, visiting the wolf and wildlife center… it’s gonna be amazing! And I have to share this because I earned it last night -FROM 79 PLANTS DOWN TO 0!!!!
Good morning #TheThread ☀️. Off for a couple of days. It was the orchid Open House on Saturday plus a lot going on yesterday. Have to organize my photos from the show. It was overwhelming as usual. Went hoping for a dendrobium to add to collection or a Stelis to replace the one that didn’t make it but didn’t get either. I really want a Masdevallia but am not ready to commit. So we left with a Neofinetia orchid. My daughter has wanted one forever so I treated her to one. Here are a few pics of the place. Amazing giant sycamore trees, huge staghorn and tows& rows of orchids!!!!Others of non orchids later 🤗

@TheConservator oh I did find a few but they would require watering a few times/week and going into our hot weather plus a few week-long trips between now and October I don’t want to set myself up for failure. Plus I have a patio I’m trying to figure out how to make it work for my plants that were former houseplants that I banished to the outdoors. Funny, they were my most troublesome, high maintenance or buggy plants that are ofc doing fine outside😒. But I’ve run out of room where they’ll be protected from direct sunlight so I need that patio to work for me.
@TheConservator AND I can always make an appointment to go back lol 🤪. Plus there were lots of non-orchids I’m tempted by. Especially these beauties that I’d never heard of before! How is that possible!! They’re related to AV’s 🥹💞🫠

@MariansOasis OOH a Neofinetia! Nice, they're a lovely orchid. For a vandaceous orchid they seem to be hardier as well
@TheConservator same. The vandas at the nursery do have some pretty nice colours, but honestly for the quality $30 isn't good. They have some bloomless ones for $5 but you can tell they're all diseased
@SwiftWolfsbane from what i can tell, these aquascapes are crazy hard to get right. The makers spend months on the hardscape alone [wood and stone], the plants will take another 6 months to fill in nicely, the moss maybe a year or two. Plus all the algae control and CO₂ injection. They look nice, but the maintenance is a pain in the ass
@Araceae yes they had maaaaany neofinetia in all kinds of prices $ to $$$$ 🤪 I’m going to see how this one goes before I jump in. And interesting that in Japan it’s all about the neofinetia leaves, not even the flower do much?!?
@TheConservator no but it’s 13 miles from me. I bet I’ll get it tomorrow. I left work at 5 today and had to be at church by 615 so I didn’t have time to try and intercept it . Long long day I’m already in bed reading a really good book!!!
@DesertGreen if you mean the neofinetia they are orchids. They’re typically mounted on wood with sphagnum moss 💚
@TheConservator the fuzzy is so it can keep it’s prey stuck, right? I’m in such awe of the beauty of the carnivorous plants. Mother Nature really went far out when she created them! 😎
