@PricklyThumb Hi Joan. These pings came as part kit, so they came with a substrate mix specifically for them. I think it’s a combination of sand, peat moss and perlite. @TheConservator Hi there! I have them potted in a peat-sand-perlite mixture that came with the ping kit I got these with. I’m not sure what the exact cultivars are, since these were not labeled when they arrived. If you are interested, here is the kit I bought. @LaSiguanaba I’ve actually checked them out. But they were having a 20% off sale and all the good stuff was gone lol. I bet that one you just posted is the emarginata juamavensis.
@TheConservator Is the ping you posted a picture of an emarginata juamavensis? It’s lovely and very different looking from other pings I’ve seen.
@TheConservator It’s always nice to get free plants, especially CPs, which are some of my favorite types of plants.
@TheConservator I lined the bottom of this planter with sphagnum moss and the substrate is a mixture of peat, sand, vermiculite, and perlite—it’s the ping substrate California Carnivores sells, if you are familiar with that shop.
@LaSiguanaba yes that’s the shop that was 20% off was Cali carnivores. See hers is the pictures from eBay seller. First 2 are both the emarginata 🤷♂️ last one is the other one I got. I assumed it was because it’s bigger but i@ not sure.
@LaSiguanaba yeah I always love purple flowers since it’s not as common. I only have a few with purple flowers. Or some that are pinkish purple or violet. The desert rose has flowers that start out black and turn dark purple over a few days.
@TheConservator Those are some beautiful pings! I’ve not tried buying plants off of eBay, but I use Etsy quite a bit and have found some good deals.
@SirLiquorice Wow, those blooms are just stunning. I have one other houseplant that is currently blooming, my tradescantia. It’s far too rainy and cold here for anything to bloom outside. 😉
@LaSiguanaba I’ve switched to eBay over the last 3-4 months. Extremely happy with them. And I think it has much more to offer.
@LaSiguanaba wow that one also has the same color flower as the butterwort! And that’s extra cool that I don’t see that type of plant flowering as often

@SirLiquorice Your desert rose blooms are so pretty—and both colors are just beautiful! 😍 I have a desert rose, but it’s not doing so well. It’s literally lost all its leaves! What is your secret?
@SirLiquorice oh my geeeeeerd, the color 😍 been trying to get my hands on a blackish/purple desert rose.. just bought one yesterday on sale cause it desperately needed saving, was a gorgeous red with ruffled petals like yours. Now I’m obsessing over yours !
