That is a beautiful cactus!
First of all, I would recommend repotting it to a container/pot with drainage holes, and using well-draining succulent soil β€œMiracle-Gro Cactus, Palm, and Citrus Potting Mix”.
Succulents don’t need a lot of water because they store water in their stems, roots, and leaves. Water when the soil is completely bone dry throughout. During the winter, I water succulents less, the soil stays wet for a month or two. This is because there is less light, more humidity, etc…During the summer I water my succulents every 3-4 weeks (every 2 weeks at the most) Water intake depends on where you live, humidity intensity and amount of sunlight the plant is receiving, temperature inside or outside, etc.. Cacti love full sun (6-8 hours per day).
