πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜… Literally though 🀣😭 #plantjokes #plantaddict
I may or may not have had a panic moment last night putting together my winterizing plans. πŸ˜…
So true!!! πŸ₯Ά 😬 πŸͺ΄ brain is here. Currently, these are all the things I'm trying to do:
CONDENSE - how many props can I put in one pot, who can move from a shelf to a window, who needs what conditions and can cluster?
Pests - been outside all summer? You're getting sprayed now and every couple weeks until it's time to come in
Quarantine - maybe if I just give them lots of baths I can make the quarantine time quicker so I can arrange sooner
Kids - Crap, they both got taller so half my "good" spots aren't "good" anymore
Grow lights - idk what I'm doing, but this looks like a good spot!
Rehoming - who do I not want to take care of all winter and where can they move to?

@PlantMompy you’re hilarious πŸ˜€
@krazykatkadi531 totally get this. I am in the process of making the spare room into a winter greenhouse. I am in Montana and the spare room is always nice and toasty . Currently putting together shelving.
@ManyLime 😭😭😭
@ShannonMHR I wish I had a spare room! 😭😭 fortunately most of what has to come in is in hanging baskets.
I only need to make shelf room for the succulents that have to come in. But...where? πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ˜…
I already told my husband that my dracaena, Hank, who lives on the back porch is moving into our bedroom for the winter. He was "overjoyed" 🀣🀣
Mannnnnnn I was just talking to hubby today about where to put all these plants 😩😩 but I think we have a plan
The planning!!!!! Ugh.....I am dizzy......πŸ₯΄πŸ˜΅ πŸ₯Ά
Yeah I already have my frost protection blankets still up from last winter. All I have to do is unroll them and secure them at the bottom. There’s a closet full already of the ones that really don’t like the cold weather. Most of my cacti can handle pretty cold weather I just need to block the freezing winds to avoid scarring. But some of mine like my dragonfruit will easily die if too cold. The stray cats always hide in my makeshift blanket greenhouse to stay warm so they don’t freeze to death. I’m wondering if them being in there with their body heat and breathing actually helps keep the plants warm a little also. But they may not be big enough to make a difference but I guess it can’t hurt? Especially since plants will grow better with co2 introduced. At least when the sun is out and photosynthesis is doing it’s thing
I have 30 plants on my front porch alone that will need to move inside. Less light, less humidity, more chance for spider mites! ARGGGGH
Not to mention the ones that have doubled in size. I will absolutely have to get grow lamps next month.
Already know that Labor Day weekend will be consolidating & maybe just composting/sacrifice for the greater good! πŸ˜œπŸ€“πŸ™ƒπŸ€£
Lol. So true! I’ve been preparing! My shelves are on the way and my heaters are too! I have the lights… I think I have enough but my smart humidifiers are on the way! No stress! πŸ˜…
@SirLiquorice YOU ARE A GENIUS!! You caged your plants!!
I was looking at my outside plants yesterday and wondering how I'm going to get them downstairs to the garage! I'm pretty sure I'll another two months before I have to panic.

I replaced all the lights in the garage with grow lights last year and hung even MORE from the ceiling. My brother said that from the outside, it looks like I'm growing marijuana. 🀣
@sarahsalith yeah they don’t mess with most of my pokey plants. But even then they do occasionally scratch themselves on the spikes and the tiny kittens have even tried fighting the spikes by hitting them for some reason. But the cacti protect themselves pretty much. My other plants I had to get creative to protect from these guys.
@sarahsalith πŸ˜‚ yeah I could see neighbors wondering what the large indoor grow operation is all about. Lol
@sarahsalith when google workers came by not long ago they had to go into my attic through my grow closet. He didn’t say anything but was probably wondering what that was about. But they can see the cacti in the front porch and balcony and back windows so more cacti in the closet probably isn’t that much of a shock. When he went up the lights were off. When he came back down the timers had turned the lights on so you could see everything really well. Like what ? You didn’t dedicate a closet to growing cacti and succulents?
I started collecting plants in June so I relate lol
@ShannonMHR have you ever considered putting like a billion lumen light bulb in the ceiling lamps so the entire room becomes a greenhouse and you don’t have to rely on windows? It was an idea I had and I’m not sure if it’s insane or not
@Lithopslover it's definitely not insane. I bought a bulb for the ceiling light. I also already have 3 different grow lights and another on the way. This one hangs from the ceiling. Don't forget the 2 humidifiers I have. I even went as far as buying mylar ( survival blanket) to put on the carpet. I am literally transforming it into a grow room. So you see iits either I am insane or it's a great idea. I go with the great idea.
@ShannonMHR seems like we are both genius and I just lack the ambition of doing
@Lithopslover I have swapped out 2 bulbs in the living room grow bulbs. Hubby has yet to notice so πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
@Lithopslover Oh do I totally get that. I should of had it done but still stuck on building the shelving. I want to finish and will but for me I have trouble doing anything for myself. I bought my first house last year so things done for the house, yard, get done first. I would feel bad if I just worked on my grow room before I got some of my before winter check list done. We'll get it done and our plants will eventually thank us.
