My no natural light set up... (More pics in comments). I'm a low income single mom so I'm not able to afford all the nice amenities that most of y'all can. My set up doesn't look anywhere near as nice as y'alls but I worked really hard at just being able to do this little bit and even though it's nothing special, I'm really proud of myself. My apartment doesn't get ANY natural light AT ALL so I'm really hoping this is going to be sufficient enough as far as lighting. I just went through a major plant loss (from a soil issue) so this is what's left. Will post more in the comments section. #happyplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantaddict #succulentlove #planttherapy #growlights #snakeplant #dracaena #pothospack #pothoswater #aloevera #hensandchicks #haworthia #cactusclique #succulentsquad #kalanchoe #propagationstation #propagation
Beautiful set up πŸ₯°
I think your setup is FABulous. (I especially ❀️ that full pot of purple/green echeveria). We all do the best with what we have. Creativity is a big part of β€œhousing” our plant friends. Well done!πŸ₯°πŸͺ΄πŸ‘
That looks wonderful πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ˜
Beautiful setup! You are doing better than you thinkβ€”remember we only see online what others choose to show us β™₯️ It may look like I’m doing β€œwell,” but I live with my mom right now. At nearly 40. Lol life gives us all lemons. You’re doing great and your plants are beautiful. I’m obsessed with the dracaena lemon-lime 😍 and your pot of echeveria. Beautiful job and I also love your wooden plant stand!
Great job! Your plants look fantastic!
You’re doing great! I live in Alaska so I lose all my natural light in winter. I don’t have a fancy set up. Everyone gets put in one spot in the winter under a grow light until the natural light comes back. I had two losses this winter. 😒
My setup is a UV lightbulb screwed into a clip-on desk lamp, you're doing great! ❀️
Looks like you’re doing great. Stop putting yourself down because you can’t afford something. Looks to me you found a resourceful way. Congrats πŸ‘πŸͺ΄
The funny thing about the internet is, we all look like we're doing well! πŸ˜† Your set up is amazing, you are doing great.
AWESOME set up!!! I LOVE it!!!! You have some really gorgeous plants! And πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ on all your propagations!! 🌱πŸͺ΄πŸŒ΅πŸ’š
I LOVE your setup! 😍
Looks like you’re doing well with what you’ve got! You’ve got some nice looking plants!
Plants look great & love the bamboo plant stand!
@NotableKonjac I think you're doing pretty damn well taking care of your plants on top of raising your kid(s) by yourself! Hell you're my freaking hero! Can I be you when I grow up? ❀️ (I'm 45 by the way) Seriously you have a beautiful setup and I also absolutely LOVE the wooden plant stand and the woven deco pot you're Ponytail Palm is in and the ones your air plants are in and those Echeveria 😍❀️ you're doing something right girl so stop putting yourself down! You obviously don't need all the expensive stuff that others have!
Looks great! Lovely plant family you have there! πŸ’š
the dedication πŸ™ŒπŸ”₯
Thanks everyone! ❀️ The wooden plant stand I got on eBay for around $22!
@NotableKonjac you have an amazing setup. I love it and your babies as well.
Yeah you picked the right plants for your set up!
You’re doing great! It all looks beautiful and I’m proud of you. πŸŒ±β˜€οΈβ€οΈ
@Kerstypoo I'm really wanting more succulents but I'm so worried they won't survive with the lack of lights. I've had problems with a few plants getting leggy and I hate it! I'm not entirely sure if my new setup is going to be good enough as far as lighting 😞
It’s fabulous!! You have nothing to be bummed on. You could also add a mirror or two to increase the light. Goodwill usually has some pretty cool ones for cheap.
That looks great! I'm not an expert yet, but would it be better to switch the snakeplant with the bottom aloe in the corner? I think aloe needs more light than snake plants πŸ€”
Everything I have is from trading/selling things and plants I didn't want to sell or trade. I couldnt/can't afford most of the things I have I just had to wheel and deal and trade and sell to get what I have, but just because your setup isn't like everyone else's doesn't mean it's not just as great. We all started with one plant in a plastic grow pot and a pocket full of lint, heart full-on wants/wishes, and a brain full of ideas. Each one is fueling the other. Some of us have started from that same point multiple times due to hard times/plant loss/etc. You do what you can at your own pace and hold pride in what you've done and what you have bc it's just as special, if not even more. Never be ashamed of what you have or what you don't have. Be proud of it bc it's yours and you worked hard to get it. ❀️
I think it looks beautiful 😍. I also just want to say; I know you said your proud of yourself and I'm glad but girl listen don't think that everyone on this app has money or can afford all these nice great things and you can't. We all have the same struggles as you. No matter how much money someone has, it doesn't make them better than anyone else. You work hard for everything you have. Same as me and everyone else. We all do the best we can. You got this girl and your plants, the setup, and your home looks great. Things always look nice on social media, and in pics, it doesn't mean it is. Most times, people like to only show the good and nice things but have a lot of bad things going on.
I think your setup looks great. πŸ’šπŸͺ΄
I think your setup looks amazing! I know it’s hard, but not comparing yourself to others is importantβ€”and I’ve struggled with that too many times! I’m a single mom too and a teacher, so I’m always broke lol but we find ways to be resourceful and creative with what we have πŸ™‚ You’re doing great! 🫢
Thanks everyone! I think what bothers me the most is that everyone has these cool decorative pots and I'm over here with the plastic pots they came in and plates from the dollar tree as drainage saucers. And also having to cram so many together in order to get under the light instead of being able to set them up all pretty in my home. The ones on the kitchen bar don't look so nice cuz they're all crammed together. I wish I was able to spread everything out in better placement
@GreenColleen yes you're correct, aloe needs more light than snake plants. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to but I move them around frequently so those further away from the light can get more light sometimes. No idea if that's actually beneficial though lol
wow!!! your setup is AWESOME and your space looks so comfy, especially with the plants πŸͺ΄πŸ’ž

if you're looking for more cute & interesting pots, I'd recommend checking out secondhand stores & thrift shops! i'm also low income, but i nearly always find really unique & interesting mugs, cups, and other types of vessels that make some stellar pots for really cheap.
@plantattempter our thrift shop usually just has plastic ones (like the ones plants come in from the store), I've gotten some of those and some of the plates (saucers) I picked up there too. If I get REALLY lucky then the thrift shop occasionally has plants for cheap, a Trader Joe's employee drops off ones they're getting rid of πŸ™‚ a few of the ones above I scored at the thrift store for $2 each! The ponytail palm, cactus, and the large aloe.
@BabeVila well said I’m 40 living with my mom after some bad choices I made but we make the best of it and learn
Looks great. We make it work with what we got
@learydarrel absolutely! Our entire area was gentrified within 3 years after Covid, people started moving up from NYC in droves. They now have priced all of us out of living in our own towns that we grew up in. It’s become completely unaffordable for someone making less than $70k to be self sufficient. And I’m making MUCH less. Actually I just read that the cost of living for my county that I work in is $117,000 a year. Which is like 3x what most people make here. It’s bad. We are making do, though. Nothing else we can do lol.
Thanks so much for sharing @NotableKonjac! Check your email for a couple of emails from our team. They may have gone to spam.
@RJG I got it and replied! I'm crying at y'all's kindness ❀️
@NotableKonjac we're so glad to be able to help the little we can. 🫑

Just keep posting with us on your plant journey 🫢🏼
Setup looks great! Keep up the good work! Best of luck!
Ps. All of my pots come from the dollar store! They get the job done and the plants aren't complaining so what differences does is make were they come from! So long as the plants are happy right πŸ˜‰πŸ˜œ
Thanks everyone! I really appreciate y'all's encouragement! ❀️
Is that a grow light?
