This is Siouxsie (and Her Banshees). She started as a ball, but quickly took advantage of the odd, dissonant lighting and heat I provided way back in Summer 2021. I recently pulled off some of the pups, believing they just pop out, but it was really violent and gross. I felt awful and vowed to leave her alone.
I did a double take today when I saw her first flower - ever.

@thenonnon Haha Clever name! Siouxsie and her Banshees look awesome! I love the shape of them! I have a Mammillaria "El Chapo" He was abandoned on the back patio after some residents moved so I claimed him probably about 6 months ago. Not long after I got him he started growing pups. It looked so strange!! Anyway, I, like you decided to pull some off and propagate them. That failed miserably. So I decided to leave them Something about it freaks me out! I'll attach a picture.
@thenonnon wow she looks really cool๐ I did get a similar "waist" on my Mammillaria๐ He ended up getting too top heavy and couldn't support himself so I ended up doing some surgery๐ Gotten lots of flowers and babies since then! I also just devided off some babies and aggree too the struggle, much harder than I anticipated๐ต!
@MockingJay Wow, so tall! I have several times almost chopped the top, mostly because mealies wrecked a lot of my cactuses. And yeah, it wasn't like plucking Echinopsis pups. There was (not really) muscle and sinew holding it together.
@Floristsdaisy Thanks for the kind words. I have only had The Ring on a couple of Mammillaria. It's more of a constellation map on my M. pringlei. Sadly, that M marksiana is long gone.
@princesspitstop One word to describe that growth: gnarly! Yeah, I'm not interested in caring for propagations unless it's something rareish- even then.
@thenonnon I ain't gonna lie. Something about it gives me the ick.๐ซ๐
@Dave: then you're way ahead of me. I only keep getting what you're having now a constellation ๐ and I don't mind. It's still far better than no bloom. ๐
@Floristsdaisy I should map it! New constellations in 2025: The Euphorbia.
