Pencil cactus lost red, many flowers

Moved my #PencilCactus outside for a little while. It lost its lovely red color while inside, and it's got so many flowers on it it might appreciate being pollinated.

I've been eyeballing one of those at the nursery- your plant looks AMAZING!
@sarahsalith thank you! I'm still experimenting with the best lighting for it- it seems that if you want it to actually look like its name "Sticks on fire" it needs to be more sun stressed than its current lighting situation was making it.
I think the pencil plant is so cool. Yours is very nice. I would love to have one but they are very toxic. I own small dogs.
@Pegster thank you! I have bunnies so I have to make sure it's either in a room they don't have access to, or too high for them to nibble on.
Amazing. Mine is planted outside and it's doing pretty well. Never tried raising it indoors. Thanks for this inspiration, I'd propagate and try it indoors, on my office desk. 😊😊😊
@sijuadekings Based on how much of its vibrant red it got back after being placed outside, even in the face of two recent rain storms, I'd highly recommend getting it a grow light if you want to pursue keeping it indoors. It seems like it really does need direct outdoor sunlight to live its best life.
@grimmauxillatrix thanks for the tips. I'd place it on my east facing window.
The Pencil Cactus is one of the few succulent whose sap is very toxic to humans. Its acidic white milky sap, is very similar to lye. This means the sap can BURN your skin. ALWAYS wear gloves when handling this succulent, because the fresh, as well as the dried sap are equally dangerous. Handle your beautiful Pencil Cactus with care. I hope my Pencil Cactus will one day look like yours.
@sijuadekings When you propagate the Pencil Cactus, wear gloves and long sleeves, because the sap is very toxic. It can burn your skin.
