YOU GUYS! I’m SO EXCITED! πŸ₯³πŸ₯³ My mom and godmother just came back from lunch, and they brought me a #wishlistplant ! A beautiful #PinkPrincessPhilodendron! I can’t believe it πŸ₯Ή I swore when they gave it to me πŸ€£πŸ˜… She definitely looks like she could use some water, but I love the variegation! Just beautiful 😍 They also got me my first #VenusFlyTrap πŸͺ°πŸͺ΄ Care tips on the fly trap would be most appreciated, as it’s my first carnivorous plant! πŸ™ #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #Philodendron #PhiloFlock #HappyPlants #PlantAddict #CarniverousPlants #babevila
@BabeVila Hey Shannon, I am so excited for you, pink princess are such a lovely plant (on my wishlist for sure) so it's great to hear the news. And of course I am a little biased towards VFTs so whatever I can do to help. I just published an article to help you have an introduction to them which I will add below. And your VFT looks a beaut, may need to settle in a bit first but lovely big traps and red coloring which is already a good sign. So enjoy and look forward to hearing more at some stage. The mothers have really excelled themselves! πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸ‘Έβœ¨οΈπŸŽˆπŸŽ‰
@BabeVila here's a good introduction (the article) for your VFT, the main thing is a tray or dish so their roots have constant access to distilled or clean rainwater/reverse osmosis and lots of light (eg 12 to even 16 under grow lights) or at least minimum 6-8 in sunlight (though not too intense) and any questions I'll be happy to answer but the article explains all this and best conditions. I would recommend flushing his pot out with distilled water in case of minerals in the soil from eg tap watering at the nursery.
Just curious, have you been wanting a VFT?
As for your pink princess πŸ‘Έ, she's in good hands πŸ™Œ πŸ‘Œ πŸ‘
@Seymour Thanks so much! I emailed your article to myself so I can print it out! I have distilled water, so I’m already ahead of the game πŸ˜‚ and no, I haven’t been particularly interested in having any carnivorous plants, but I definitely find them interesting and it will be cool to learn how to take care of it! My mom got one for herself, too, but since I take care of all her plants, I’ll be taking care of both, lol
@BabeVila well, I think you may enjoy your VFT, very different from your other plants in many ways but the first sentence of the article provides a great perspective! If you already have distilled water, you are way ahead of most people with their first VFT! It's one of the most common mistakes.
So your mom buys two VFTs, gives you one and hers will be in your care. She sounds very wise...and so nice of your mom and godmother! I am thrilled for you so thanks for sharing the news πŸ˜€ 😊 I could send lots of beginner VFT videos, etc but it may be better you tell me anything you are unsure about. I've been sharing this brief 2 min video of how VFTs count, so here it is just to pique your interest πŸ˜€
Yay! You got a pink princess!

I have a little piece of advice if you plan on keeping the pot. The rope inside is wayyy too thin and tiny yo make sure that your entire plant has enough water.

I replaced mine with a larger cotton rope to make sure every bit of the plant is getting water.

Can't wait to see her grow!

I love all of her pink splashes! πŸ₯°πŸ₯° stunning.
Wow, that's a gorgeous PPP!! 😍
How sweet of them! 😍
WOOOOW!!! Look that that!!! She looks Fabulous 🀩 and lets talk anout that VFT YO!! Its going to have so much color I can see it now πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ Congratulations you hit the JACK POT!
@Travanote1 I can’t believe it! Lol I was just drooling over yours yesterday! I’m going out tomorrow night to hunt for the perfect pot for her πŸ˜‚ but good to know about those ropes! πŸ’–
Amazing!! That PPP is just gorgeous! 😍😍
Congrats! Very pretty one. She looks like a marble pink princess πŸ’–πŸ‘‘
