This weekend, I went on a trip to see Sarracenia in the wild! Despite living in the same state that they grow, the best areas to see them are still over 6 hours away from me.
It was absolutely magical getting to stand in a field of Sarracenia! I couldn't exactly put the feeling into words. It almost didn't feel real. Plus, the trails we went on were absolutely beautiful. One overlooked a breathtaking swamp, while another went through an equally pretty marsh. Wetlands are really something special, they are magical places.
At one of the places, the ditch outside of the park was full of Sarracenia leucophylla and Drosera tracyi. The Drosera tracyi was so plentiful that they made the entire ditch look like it was glowing! Once again, it was magical. I will definitely have to try and plan a trip sometime in late summer/fall to see all of the Leucophylla in their best time!
