Loving all the growth outdoors πŸŒΏπŸ’•πŸͺ»πŸ Anyone else outdoor garden? flowers">#flowers #outdoorgrowing #outdoorgardens #iris #bleedingheartvine #beefriendly #howdoesyourgardengrow
Those are some absolutely gorgeous blooms! I prefer outdoor gardens to indoor gardens :) I've got one myself, though it's mainly carnivorous plants. I had some Sarracenia (Trumpet Pitcher plants) blooming a few weeks ago, and now I've got some Venus fly traps blooming 😁

(Venus fly trap flower pictured first, sarracenia blooms second)
@Merranda beautiful! I prefer outdoor gardening as well, however I like to grow fruits, veggies and herbs more than flowers or anything else.
@PlantBeach Love it!! Im a converted hobby farmer. Started planting vegetables 'flowerbed style' and a year later now working on my first flower garden. so I love outdoor gardens as well and I cant wait to see more of your growth!
@xopeachyxo same here, hobby farmer/random flower hoarder I guess. I'm not super into flowers, I do grow some of the easiery ones but they all have SO many different needs and requirements its a lot to do, also while doing fruits and veggies lol πŸ˜† I'm really into heirloom fruits/veggies. I grow uncommon/old things like Ananas D'Amerique A Chair Verte Melon, it's a old 1794 French melon. Random weird stuff like that lol πŸ˜† currently waiting on my 1lb tomatoes to germinate, they're called Mortgage Lifters super excited about them!
@PlantBeach Thats really awesome!! I enjoy mixing my veggies in. (I'll show you my 'hedge row' of squash/zukes once it starts to fill in) Experimenting with heirloom and antique varieties sounds SOOO FUN. I want to (eventually) cultivate some Okosomin squash. I think the heirloom pumpkins that I think are called Cinderella... The most adorable thing ever.
Also, just any random seeds that happen my way gets planted, too. I'm a serial replanter as well. Mortgage Lifter is a very prolific variety. Albeit, prolific because the fruit they produce is really meaty big boys. They make a lot of sandwiches and are decent for sauce.
Burpee will tell you only to expect 3 or 4-ish pounds of tomato fruit per plant, and its total hooey. Just make sure you give them plenty of calcium and some iron. My Mortgage lifter gave me 36 quart jars of fully prepared spaghetti sauce, per plant.
@xopeachyxo Same! πŸ˜† I call it "chaos gardening" lol I like to get different varieties of the same plant too (I have like 7 different basil's going lol) if I find plants and seeds, they're planted idc what it is! I'm so excited for those meaty tomatoes. Also growing spoon tomatoes, because balance. πŸ˜†
@xopeachyxo I am SO stoked about them. Yesss. Do you shop Bakers Creek for seeds? They have some cool heirloom seeds!
@PlantBeach Chaos Gardening is the perfect name for it, πŸ˜‚ I have only recently discovered Bakers Creek. Usually my heirlooms come from SeedNerds, 99Heirlooms and Bentley.
Im not a brand loyal gardener, Ive only been messing with plants for a few years. So for new, price and delivery are my two factors. (except if I can find a Papa Joes version of a plant I want at Ace Hardware, they are a good nursery with clean soil) lol
And I'd love you hear about your basil's!! I just started introducing herb varieties. So far they Spanish Lavender and purple basil are my favorite plus its so fun on pizza!
