I have been a new plant mom now for about six months. I have been trying to expand my collection of a variety of plants. Today, l had the craziest experience. I ordered a dwarf cavendish banana tree plant about a month ago. Today, a box arrived to my front door which was about 5 feet tall. I dragged it inside and opened it up. It’s a banana tree. A fully grown/ ripe banana tree with the roots and no pot. So, I forgot to mention, I live in a as condo. What the h*** am l gonna do with a five foot tree in my unit? I thought about it a bit. And l determined, l probably could not send this back to whatever poor island man sent it to me. So, I found a pot big enough for it, gave it some peat, perlite and fresh water and sat it underneath a growing light. Who knows, maybe I can grow some bananas inside? Wish me luck! Any advise would be greatly welcomed. #plantaddicts #happyplants #tropicalplants #plantsmakepeoplesmile #dwarfbananaplant
@ImpartialMakole Jenise!!! Oh my word!!! 🫨 I have this image in my head now of that tree in your condo..
and I have been giggling at your story…
as this brings back memories of my Mom once bought a banana tree too, it got so big she donated it to our local indoor shopping Mall.. I hope you enjoy as long as you can.. πŸ€— live and learn .. we all make mistakes sometimes.. 😜🀭
If you can afford it grow lights can help with the insane amount of light bananas need, if the bananas ripen and are ready to harvest sadly the tree is done and you'll need to cut it and hope for a pup as bananas only fruit once
^I also recommend looking up videos on YouTube there is a surprisingly welcome community of people very passionate about banana trees and how to manage and maximize them

They only fruit once??? Really all that work for just once???
They do just fruit once but thats only a partial trith since they produce new shoots/suckers to produce the next year. Its just a life cycle. If bananas truly just friited 1x then had to be cut down then bananas would cost 20$ a lb
From what i gather in just a few minutes if reading, its all about proper pruning! Which im sure is alot of the info youll find in those groups for banana trees
That is so cool!!!! I wanna see pics 🀩
^ I may have not explained it well but yes they only fruit once and then need to be pupped basically regrown each season
@elisenavidad been running all day. I will get you some pictures posted this evening
