Good Saturday morning/brunch or whatever depending on where you guys are! 😁 hope all is well. 🙏🏻 🫠. My question : I have a concrete slab that is surrounded by flower beds I wonder if anyone has painted or covered concrete with anything that held up well with weather and such? I suppose I could power wash it to see how that turns out.. but still like to cover to make it pretty. But low cost if such a thing. #GregGang #outdoorgardens #OutdoorGrowing #PlantTherapy #PlantsMakePeopleHappy

I’m envisioning: planters all along the sides. Then putting large purple tiles under or between the planters (just something to add a fun pop of color) OR get an outdoor area rug with a purple design on it. Then in each corner have a cluster of 3-4 planters and use different plant stands to get different heights and create visual interest. You could also put an arched or rectangular trellis in the dirt on the short ends. Then plant sweet peas or vining roses at the base and train them to climb the trellis.
How big is it? Could be a good pad for a #BackyardGreenhouse
@JferLuvsConifers oh I really haven’t I would needs lots of ideas.. but sounds like a good idea..
Ooh 😮 beautiful spot!! And so much room for all the plants 🪴 🌳 🌸! No experience here with covering concrete with anything but paint. The previous owners where we used to live 20 years ago had painted a gazebo concrete floor with a very light green. For us it looked good for a while but then of course needed maintenance. In your spot I’d power wash and consider outdoor rugs. There are some pretty good ones out there now. It’d be cute since it’s such a big slab to have a couple of seating areas with rugs to define the space.
@RJG Drew I would dearly love a greenhouse ❤️❣️ but this is actually in my front yard. lol! It was my husband’s “front porch” slab at his childhood home.
@CourtlyKingfern if you thinking of painting it won’t hold up. My husband is in paint and every summer he has the DIYers try and use paint to pretty up some concrete and every year he has to field questions as to why it didn’t work😂😂😂
@MariansOasis I really have thought of painting it and I know it’s gonna sound insane but I am thinking the color purple! It’s my very favorite color and I see this flower bed out my front living room windows every day all.. day… long… well when I am indoors.. lol and I do like the idea of a good outdoor carpet to put out there. And get a few seats. May have to find them at yard sale or such.. haha. Thank you for your input!! I like!! 👍🏻 😍
@Amateurbotany Racheal my husband was a painter for years and he would kill me at the thought of doing this.. (with paint) I do know.. it won’t hold up.. just wondering if they had created anything new and improved ! lol 😂
@CourtlyKingfern my husband works for Sherwin Williams…I assure you nothing has changed😂😂😂 Outdoor carpet however has come a LONG WAY!!! You can also look into outdoor tiles. I just discovered them myself when researching how to create a simple base for a small green house
@CourtlyKingfern My mom had a similar slab and added a pebble topping on a new layer of concrete . 10 years later it still looks so pretty . I’m betting there’s a DIY if you google it . Have a great rest of your day .
I agree with @RJG !! I vote for #BackyardGreenhouse ❤️❤️
@CourtlyKingfern
Perhaps this a case of less is more. I love it just as it is. What's making you ponder a change? It looks so peaceful and uncluttered at this time.

@CourtlyKingfern easy fix A FrontyardGreenhouse 😂😂
@CourtlyKingfern omg that’s so neat! And great memory to have!! ❤️
@MariansOasis @RJG @Amateurbotany @ILoveMyPlants @JferLuvsConifers @Boymom-plantmom @debbiedo @Gremmit @GuruPassiflora @Jilliebeanstalk @plantstate thanks everyone for your suggestions! “I think“ I am power washing, finding an outdoor rug with purple in it. Adding some planters along the edges as I can afford. Add a few seats & side table . A trellis in the flower bed. And maybe some type of stenciling as well at the edge.. Drew I REALLY would love that greenhouse and just call it my Solarium! ❤️😍🙌🏻🤩
@CourtlyKingfern ❤️❤️❤️❤️ can’t wait for the update!! Great choices!
@CourtlyKingfern yes 🙌 keep us updated with your progress and designs! 👍👍
@CourtlyKingfern Fun plans!!
@CourtlyKingfern this sounds great! Can’t wait to see pics!
@GaryPoopins Christopher I have given up on the idea of paint. lol 😞 The idea of a Gazebo sounds nice but I am not really sure I would be happy with it smack in front of my house. Maybe to the side 😁. (That may be another year for my birthday gift.) 🥳 I am pretty sure I am just going to clean up the concrete slab, put down an outdoor rug, bench & chair set, solar lights, flower containers scattered, a trellis and possibly a birdbath and then I will be past my money limit for all time. Haha. 🤣 oh who am I kidding! I am an addict to spending money I don’t have saved and finding a reason for new flowers 🫠
@CourtlyKingfern I love that herb planter! And the chairs look lovely but might not be super comfy. Maybe add some purple outdoor cushions to them?
@Gremmit Caitlin I am finding that my purple stuff is costing more more. So I am trying to build around that black kettle pot as it will be staying. And I already have my black trellis in. Accents will definitely be purple of different kinds/ types.. 💜💜💜 yes the planter caught my eye as well. 🤩🫠
@CourtlyKingfern love all your ideas, especially the rug and solar light plant stands! 🥰👍
@MariansOasis Marian I ordered the rug and the solar light plant stand and the 5 holder plant stand as well today. Holding off on chairs just yet. I have a metal black bench I am going to put out there and see how that looks first. And got more flowers for this bed too, maybe you saw them already.
@CourtlyKingfern that’s so exciting!! Yes, try your bench first 🤞Hopefully it will work. The new flowers are stunning 🌸🌺
