@princesspitstop hi again buddy! I just wanted to notify you on my gifts! What do you think? They're great tho aren't they? I'm totally in love with the monstera! I'd love to get some tips from you!π§‘
@StarryKentia Awe! I love them!! Did you know that your in particular Spider Plant is a Reverse Variegated Spider? Green centered leaves with white margins! So pretty! I love love love those Monstera leaves. I can't stop looking at mine. I've also never heard of a Curry Tree. I'm going to have to look it up! I bet you're such a happy plant mom ππͺ΄βΊοΈ
@StarryKentia Yes absolutely! Give me a minute. I just woke up. I actually woke up earlier saw your message and couldn't keep my eyes open so I went back to sleep. π
@princesspitstop Actually? It's a reverse variegated spider plant? That's honestly so cool!!
A curry tree is basically like a plant of the curry leaves, my mum wanted one as we use it alot in South Indian cuisine. I'm totally stoked about these new additions to my growing collection. I hope I do well and dont end up killing them. They also came by mail, so it's even cooler

@StarryKentia Ok βΊοΈ Good morning π I got my coffee and am ready to start the day. I am so happy for you getting your first Monstera! πππ I heard that their care is the same as a Deliciosa so I just put my little guy next to big momma and little daddy in the only good window that I have which is a South facing window. Your Spider plant and your Adansonii require similar care. Both bright indirect light but not fond of the sun directly on their leaves. Water thoroughly when the top 2 inches of soil are dry. Like I'll put mine in the sink flood the top of the soil,(let the water pool on top of the soil) then turn it off, let it drain, then do it again and put it back in the window until next time. How often you water varies on the weather, how much light it's getting ect. You know like your other beautiful babies. Welcome to the #monsteramob π€ When I was a kid my mom had spider plants but she called them Airplane Plants. I didn't start calling them Spider Plants until I joined Greg. π
@princesspitstop I just j it learned my spider plant is reverse variegated as well. Thank you!
@captainstardust Cool! I just recently learned that myself! Have you seen the Curly spider plants? π₯° I want one so bad!!
@StarryKentia I forgot something! Spider plants are pretty fast growers and will fill the size pot you put them in. I mean don't put it in a huge pot but at this point you could go a couple of sizes up. I have both of mine in hanging baskets which they love because when they have babies they can hang over the edge and fly around...like airplanes lol
@princesspitstop Awwe it's so cute how ur mum called them airplane plants! And thanku so much for all the tips!𧑠the days are really getting shorter! It's the night here rn can you believe it! Btw ur spider plant looks beautiful! It's so bushy and so pretty
I'm just hoping they grow well, cus they were really good presentsπ€π€π€π€

@StarryKentia You're going to do great!! I have 100% faith in you! I've seen your plants. π€©π€ Goodnight dear! Talk to you tomorrow.
@princesspitstop Good night! Talk tomorrow! Thanks for the vote of confidence!π§‘
@StarryKentia Hi! Just curious what part of the curry tree is used for cooking? Just the leaves?
@princesspitstop I love the airplane plant name! π my mom always had a ton of plants and knew tons of names but the names where just what info had been passed along from friends who gifted plants or cuttings. My mom did have some plant care books, but still to this day my mom has some interesting names for plants. lol
@nellz4estfairyz yup only the leaves! What r some nicknames your mum kept?
@SageTreeheather omg I almost forgot, we told we would tag each other in our posts! Whoopsies
My new year's gifts! Any tips would be appreciated!

@StarryKentia Oh my gosh theyβre so beautiful! I like how your adansonii is named Lilly hahaha!
My adansonii is just named Cheese. Hahaha. Here she is.
All Iβd say is good luck! I know youβll do great with these cuties.

@SageTreeheather Omg yeah I just realised! My mum wanted me to name her Lilly, so yeah!
Your adansonii is gorgeous! I hope I do good like many of you told I would!
Btw,
Did you let her vine on to the wall? And if you did, how? It looks so pretty tho!
Besides, I love the string of hearts (ig that's what it is) below the adansonii!

@TheFeyofBones this is my spider plant! Does she look good? And healthy?
@StarryKentia honestly yeah! This is so pretty!! Iβd say youβd be good to repot if you see that it dries out fairly quickly. My spider loves humidity and spritzing so just a few mists of water every other day has helped out my girl. For sure give it time. Like said further up here, they grow QUICK and will fill whatever you put them in. When it puts off babies wait until they look something like this to cut them.
Thanks I sure will do @TheFeyofBones
@StarryKentia @captainstardust @nellz4estfairyz @Prentyce @princesspitstop When I was a child I learned about plants from my neighbor across the street, who had an outside flower garden and house plants. She taught me the name βairplane plantβ and said they could be called that or spider plants. So that must be a shared older name for them. I have some all green, white with green edges, and green with white edges and unsure of their names other than spider plants. I take mine outside in the summer and find they love the sun! Others tell me theirs donβt but mine grow prolifically in the sun. They βmaintainβ while inside in the winter, then grow like crazy outside again when spring comes. Here are 3β¦..if you know the more specific names I would welcome the info.
@AC73LoveCats Hi Jane! I love that you first learned that they were called Airplane plants. That's what my Grandmother referred to them as therefore what I called them my whole life. π I have 2 and can tell you their varieties!
My 1st and oldest is theΒ Variegatum which looks like your second picture. It has white margins and broad green centers.Β It's also known as the airplane plant or reverse spider plant.
My 2nd was given to me by a lady that moved recently and is called a Vittatum- it looks like the first pic you posted. It has green edges a cream-colored center. It has white stems and grows more slowly than the Variegatum variety.
Your third picture looks like a White Stripe, it has a narrow white to cream line down the central leaf vein that disappears as the leaf ages.Β It has cream to yellowish flower stalks. I had to do some research on that one because I've never seen one! πΒ I love "Airplane Plants" ππ©οΈ Here are my 2 babies!

@AC73LoveCats I forgot one!! I've been wanting it for a long time! It's the curly spider plant!! I found a picture of them. Aren't they precious π AHHHH!!! π
@princesspitstop Thank you so much, Heidi, for naming my plants! I did not know those variety names! Thank you for doing the research! Yours are beautiful! Yes, I had seen a pic of the curly spider plant and would love to have one. When I was a child, the only kind I ever saw were the purely green ones. If you would like one of my White Stripe babies, my email is on my oasis. I would send it in warm weather. Have you seen any of the curly ones or the plain green?
The largest spider plant Iβve ever seen was in a pot several feet across and the span of the leaves was many feet more. Iβve never seen one like that since. It was in the home of a very well-to-do family in Toledo and I was taking a class that met in their home when I was in my early 20βs. That plant was amazing and I have never forgotten it. Yea, they are precious !!

@AC73LoveCats For real?? I would LOVE a White Stripe pup!! I've never seen one in person or in pictures until I saw yours! I've never seen a curly one either until I saw one here on the app and fell in love! I'll send you an email so you can have mine as well! Yay!! It seems like the first plant that I remember being around when I was a kid. I would see them when we would go to Galveston Island. I grew up about 40 minutes from there so we went often. The business would have huge ones in hanging baskets outside their shops on the Strand. π It's the nostalgia for me π₯° I couldn't imagine a spider plant that big!! I saw one recently in a long planter box outside of a BBQ place here in Texas. Typical I know π€£ Anyway, it was huge but I'm thinking it was a few plants planted next to each other.
