Just in case there are #Greggers out there struggling with keeping a specific plant happy, I present to you my #SSOP. Here's an official (backwards) #BeforeAndAfter of this horrible plant. It used to be the bane of my existence ... but now I have come to peace with this monster. I don't let it see me cry -- it can smell fear.
I have banished this #NotSoHappyPlants to a #PropBox and I glance at it every week or so. It is what it is: #SurvivalOfTheFittest
#HappyPlants (but not this one)
#PlantsMakePeopleHappy (except SSOP) #PropagationStation #PlantGraveyard #plantjokes #PlayingWithPlantsInsteadOfWorking #SOBER (even after this hateful #StringOfPearls !)

Man, this post is the highlight on sop. I had one growing majestically for 1.5yrs. Had beautiful trailing vines on all sides at a length of 2+ feet.
Thought I had care on lock π
Then suddenly, it started separating and rotting from its base.π
I had not done anything different. It just was like, "Yo. I'M DONE AND MOVING OUT!"
So, like @sarahsalith, I took what I could. Threw them into a "prop pot" and just let them decide if it wants to live. π€£
If it dies, it dies. β¨οΈ
But here we are now and THRIVING! π
Bonus: Also have variegated SOPs in a separate pot to peer pressure "growth" π€£

I feel your pain. I went and killed my SOP. But I feel like it was it's fault, not mine π€πΉ I'm willing to get another one and try again only because I found a cute little bathtub planter at Target today. The pearls would look like bubbles. It would be a bubble bath! Now I need to find a new SOP! πΉ
@KillerTofu I can't admit out loud how much I've spent on #SSOP -- I refuse.
@sarahsalith Iβm not sure why they keep lying to us π€£ maybe to get us to keep trying and buying more and more plants π
@sarahsalith they sell crochet ones on Amazon (I got my daughter one bc she doesnβt keep any plant alive)π maybe itβs a viable replacement π π
@KillerTofu that would be too cute !
Lol I have to laugh because these are evil! I have some that are doing fine and then this little turd I just put on the counter and walked away ππ€·ββοΈπ€£ @sarahsalith

@sarahsalith Hahaha! That's great π€£ I need to re-edit this and put mine π
@Tica I wish I had "prop pot" luck πΉπ€£
@sarahsalith ,this thread is hilarious but so true!
π€£π€£ I used to buy a Boston Fern every spring and I called it my yearly ceremonial fernοΏΌ because I no killed it within months. I finally stopped killing them (by not buying them!).
If you swapped your "fern" with "ivy", add crotons instead of peace lilies- that's pretty much my #NeverAgain list!

@sarahsalith I literally just cringed at the thought of ivy and crotons. I've killed basically all the EASY to kill plants that my big box stores only manage to carry.
Ok, I have some time to get this Boston fern dreamy eyes out of my system. Must remember how it gets dry and sheds EVERYWHERE! Even with a humidifier dedicated to it!

Ohhhh dear Iβm afraid this is gonna be me and my peace lily #frenemies
@RealSimpleMama π€£π€£ #frenemies
@AwesomePlants YES ON PEACE LILIES AND HOW DARE PINTEREST TELL ME HOW GREAT AND EASY THEY ARE π©π©π©
@sarahsalith can we go a step further on our hashtag puns and make it #FERNemies omg I deserve a damn award π€£π€£π€£π€£ #sodorkythatitscool
Omg this post is sooo timely! I have to repop my SOPs ASAP! π¬
Succulent friends, please pray for me! ππ½
@sarahsalith @KillerTofu @Propa @HoyaAddict @TruthfulApricot @YammieOf3 @idkstephs @fitsedum
I'll need all a good plant vibes I can get this evening...
I've been putting off repotting my SOPs for too long... but I must, like right now, because it's definitely rebound & the soil has gone hydroponic π¬
Why do "string of things" have to be such a pain in the π to repot??? π©

@roxyvivien prayers, girl! Fibroid roots are the end all and be all in the plant world. You wonβt catch me removing those from peat moss. I canβt. I wonβt. Nope.
@YammieOf3 That looks great! π₯°
@roxyvivien Sending you all the best plant vibes for repotting your SOP! πππ» Keep us updated!
@roxyvivien πππ€ππππ€ππ€ππππ€
@fitsedum We all have our plant deal breakers! π
@RealSimpleMama ππ€£ππ€£π
@FitSedum Okay, I have no idea what you are talking about! π Fibroid roots?
Speaking of struggling to keep a specific plant happy.. I just had to get rid of my Coleus plant because it wasnβt doing well. It developed Downey Mildew, probably from the basil I had. However, I still have my two Mezoo Trailing Red succulent plants. They were overwatered when I bought them last June. However they survived, and are now in my house for the winter. They are doing great!
@Tica Yep! So far theyβre doing well. π€π€π€ I ignore strings for the most part. Light is the absolute number one issue. What βexpertsβ say about strings and light is not always true. If thatβs right and I water correctly it works. I canβt wait until the sun brings out SOWβs color. β€οΈ
@roxyvivien My fingers and toes are crossed for you hun! π
@BrittneyLay start with string of hearts, then work your way up.
@RealSimpleMama you mean the NOT so peaceful?! π€£
@AwesomePlants this is funny because my maranta has been doing great until i forgot to water it for one dayβ¦ sheβs protesting now
Loving this thread or should we say βstringβ π. My SOP went from 10 to zero almost overnight! Chopped it hard and propped the chops. Weβre all okay for the moment!! π. Totally agree with the No More Ferns! I love you, but you ferns π± hate my house π‘ Iβm looking at you Maidenhair, lemon button, button, Boston!! Unless of course I throw you outside and you take over the side garden - yes you Boston fern!!
Also can add Pilea glauca to my not again list - fungus gnat hotel, stem rotting, only lives as props in water, too much of my time annoying plant! π€ͺπ«ππ.
