Spider mites and nails: my day from hell
How is my dad goin, you so kindly ask? Weelll.. just found out ALL of my calatheas and every regular house plant i have is INFESTEDZ WITH SPIDERMITE. BRUUHHH. Ive been trying to figrr out why all my house plants all of a sudden started looking poorly when they were just thriving amd I check them often. Well i noticed its been a while since i washed the leaves off, got them all gather and started wiping them down and noticed... The webbing and the different texture my leaves now felt.. i have really terrible eyesight and my biggest worry has always been over looking something like this and it happened. Never had them before but i imagine it has to be from the calatheas i got from facebook bc phillips garden center (local) never has pest. They take amazing care of their plants. Upon further investigative work, i went reading more in depth reviews for the facebook seller and apparently there is an abundance of reviews with complaints of freaking spidermites. Ugggghhhhhhh. I quarantined them (even though tthey're technically a safe distance from other plants im not risking shit) removed all the soil, and blasted the entre plants with the sink sprayer to blast away as many of those bastards as i could, washed the leaves and wiped them, then sprayed them with water, lemon juice, and vinegar and wiped them again. Repot was easy EXCEPT for my poor peperomia rosso 🥺 she did not handle it well and basically broke into 3 pieces so fingers crossed she recovers. UGGGHAJSJAJSHAHAJA Then top top it off, hubby left tools outside... And as im picking them up it starts raining.. next thing you know i step on a board with a 3 in nail sticking out and yeah.. it went through the shoe and deep into the feet meat. As im scream extremely vulgar profane things i go to step back to take pressure off, regain balance, and try to get it out (fyi-its stuck in the feet meat) only to STEP BACK ONTO ANOTHER BOARD WITH ANOTHER NAIL THAT SLIDES LIKE FREAKING BUTTER INTO THE OTHER FEET MEAT ALL WHILE IN THE COLD POURING RAIN AT 7 THIS FREAKING MORNING!!!!!!! The things i shouted would have made sailors need therapy and the devil blush. So there i am with my new feet meat extenders reinacting the ionic scene from ace Ventura pet detective when he has a spear in both legs. I finally use the last of my reserved specialty anger juice that's been storing up for a hot minute and just did a ninja style lightening fast *hiiyyyaahhh* power fist punch the sunsabetches off my poor feet meats and yelled F U then hobbled my freezing drenched crippled arse back into the house towards the heater only for the power to shut off... And stay off until now.. all day.. im done. Locked myself in my room and left a note for hubby and the kids saying "Due to reasons beyond our control, the "mom/wife service" will be unavailable for the rest of the day. Sorry for any inconveniences this may have caused but for your safety we suggest you go else where and/or handle yourselves until further notice. - SINCERELY MOM MANAGEMENT" I have my secret stash of chocolate, bundled up like an eskimon a heating pad and a glass of wine.. no tv just silence and paint.

Oh my god what a day!!! 🥶😱😫 Are you up to date with your tetanus shot? If not I would book a booster. Here in the UK I think they advise every 10 years.
What a giant nuisance about the spider mites. One option I've been looking into recently is predatory mites as a way of controlling spider mites. They would be good to use especially if it turns out to be hard to totally eliminate them.

@AwesomePlants i inspected it i just dont have glasses atm and my eye sight is awful. Legally im not allowed to drive without glasses bc its "equivalent to drunk driving" and what not and its getting worse. @SerendipitySal lol my life is a play on words.. words being the mostest awfullest shite kinda day to be had in a hot arse minute. @LuxuryMint yeah im up to date. I think its every 7, years here in the US but im so accident prone that i stay up to date and then some with all the injuries i get.
Ive been researching the predatory bugs too!!! I like the idea of that bc i hate poisons (im too careless and things slip my mind too easily and fast plus i have kids and it just worries me,,) ive had several oopsies while using neem that have me refusing to use it bc THAT SUUUCCKKKEEDDDD

@Roserade sometimes i feel like i should have my cameras set back up and get a body cam (for pov) and just watch reruns of ,"Welcome To The S**t Show, Its Krunch Time" i could either make millions or be self entertained for ages. I water boarded both feet with alcohol once i got inside bc im terrified of getting them infected. All the muddu water mixed into my shoes that haven't been washed in 2 months mixed with the sweat from working outsde all morning is a recipe for disaster. They hurt soooo bad 🥺

Unless they are improving tomorrow I would speak to your doctor to potentially get antibiotics. Puncture wounds are obviously impossible to clean properly because you can't reach to any depth. And some anti-inflammatory pain relief too if you haven't already. I remember stepping on a tin tack once in bare feet and that was bad enough. Sending you healing vibes for your poor feet meats 😣💕
My poor @KrunchyWrapz such bad luck you have had. Healing loving thoughts coming your way. For sure get ahold of the doc and get an antibiotic. Puncture wounds are the worst and more prone to infection. God Bless 🙌 🙏 ❤️
@LuxuryMint well the pain in my feet is tolerable as long as i take a break and get off of them for a while which is difficult for someone who half the time is always on the go go go. Definitely swollen a decent bit but ill live through this one. Lol

That's good you are able to be on your feet at all. Really hope they continue to heal quickly. Oh dear re conjunctivitis being added to the mix😣 it does seem to be really contagious. Did she get it from school do you think?
On the topic of the predatory mites subject, I've got an infestation of aphids on the plants in my bedroom, and I ordered ladybird larvae and I haven't dared tell anyone in case they think I am mad releasing bugs in my bedroom 😬😁 wish me luck!!! 🌿💕

@LuxuryMint i i believe she got it from school bc she was just talking about a classmates eye being extremely pink and they wouldn't keep their hands off of it. Ive never had it before so its all new stuff for me to spend hours researching.
Ohhhh please tell me how it goes and where you got them from! Ive been debating on it and am at the point i REALLY want to do it but i also dont want to buy from a bogus shop or anything. So ill have you be my guide on how it works and how it does! Yeah and those people are just low key peanut butter and grape jealous that they never came up with a more genius, all around less toxic/safer, and probably more cost efficient method. Im excited for you!

But the concept of using natural predators rather than chemicals does seem to be getting more mainstream.
