How about some #cpclubthursday action this week🤗! I know i love sharing my CARNIES with all the other CP HOARDERS out there. Lets see what you have cooking in those traps this week. Here are some of my faves this week🙌 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #GregPlantShop #GregGang #CarnivorousPlants #CarnivorousClub #Sarracenia #Drosera #PitcherPlant #Nepenthes #TheThread
Very nice! Its really full! @GrowFriend
@TheConservator Do you have a greenhouse? Going to your Oasis it doesn’t look there is a duplicate of any plant. Wide variety of several plant types. Love that❤️
@TooUnique1 no just my house is my greenhouse. I definately like a diverse selection of plants i guess lol.
Lots of great windows for plants. And my bedroom is almost a sunroom. But i have alot of grow lights too. @TooUnique1
Those pings look stunning!! The nepenthes leaves as well ✨️ I love it when their leaves turn red 😄 In the photo of the pitchers, what type of nepenthes is that? I love it!
Here's some photos from my garden this week (including a new Pinguicula that has been on my plantlist for a bit now!):
Not too many Sarracenia photos at the moment unfortunately because the mealybugs earlier this year deformed all of their pitchers and then the rain/wind knocked them down 🫠 Hoping the late summer growth is good atleast 😌

The really red first puc is s nepenthes rebecca. The second yellow /red is a nepenthes rafflesiana elongata dark. Thise pitchers should get really dark burgandy with yellow as the plant matures . @Merranda
@Merranda nice looking trappys😍 i have one that likes to eat itself too🤷♂️😂! Pings are fun and different. I have found them challenging though. Information about how and when to water is so sketchy
@TheConservator thanks! I always wonder if the plant means to eat itself, lol. I have been obsessed with pings lately! Ive had 2 (P. "Aphrodite" and P. moctezumae) for roughly a year now and I've managed to keep them alive so far. Ive just been watering them weekly with my Nepenthes and its been good.
I dont think any of the ones that I have currently go through their dry dormancy phase in winter, but yeah -- there's not much info watering. Its a guessing game 😅

@Merranda i mainly water mine overhead just a bit every 2 days. Just enough to wet the sand and ping. Then 1x a weeki put water in the dish under it and let it run dry. Usually its in water 3-4 days out of water 3-4 days.
@TheConservator woah! Ive read about that before but couldn't really find many photos! Thats so cool to see!!
Your heliamphora are absolutely beautiful !!

@Merranda thank you! 🤗
@Merranda so do you know then?? Do i cut it off and plant it?
@TheConservator question:, what's the humidity that they're in (if you know) and how often do you water them? Just wondering since I've been struggling with mine 😅
@Merranda theyre all in that climatarium of mine. It has cold mist humidity at 73% lights on 14 hours a day.
It is so amazing tbh! 1970s grow box and everything i put in there does excelkent. But as far as your watering question. I dont have to water in it really. I just fill pitchers. If anything stuff stays to wet. Thats why it gets a weekly cleaning @Merranda
@TheConservator thank you so much for the info! That helps a lot. The climatarium is super cool, I remember you posting about it! I will definitely take some notes.
Mine is currently in a 20gal reptile tank, which works super well for plants. I have a humidifier that mists every 2 hrs for 30 mins, so the humidity stays up. (~70-80%) The lights are on from sunrise to sunset so it changes w/ the seasons
I water weekly, but I think for my heli im definitely going to water a bit more because I think that might be the issue.

@Merranda are you filling your pitchers with water ?
@TheConservator I try to keep them full, but because my plant is still super tiny it dries out. Do the pitchers die if there's no water in them?
@Merranda i was also expirementing with these self watering pots. I think for a greenhouse setting or even outside. Those would be awesome! But in my climatarium its just not needed so all i use em for now is a catch pan. Theyre potted in 2parts rung out tight packed spag to 1 part fine perlite.
@TheConservator those would probably work well! Especially for me since im horrible with remembering to water my indoor plants 🤦♀️ Do helis not mind standing water? For some odd reason I was thinking that they dont like sitting in standing water.
@Merranda if theyre in spagh perlite its fine. Its really not standing then. Its just a constant moist
@TheConservator ohhhh okay, that makes sense! My heli is in long spag & perlite so I will have to try that now then! I think the issue def has to do with watering
@FeralFran tons!
@TheConservator the more I see them that more I want them 😅
@Araceae i just got 2 new nepenthes. An ampularia and a vertilosa red 12.99$ each for starters
@TheConservator now I’m ready to order grow lights. I figure this winter will kill the ones that haven’t been killed yet. Here’s a picture of my plant stand. The shelves are wood so I should be able to attach them right? As you can see, I’ve already lost some because it’s a southern window but it has this high overhang. Which is nice as it shades the kitchen but not so nice when you want sun for your plants🥴
@TooUnique1 most lights send several hanging options. Theyre really not very heavy even so 1 option they usually send are just double stick squares of tape. It shoukd he easy to attach them
@TheConservator thanks so much for responding to my question. Remember you giving 2 types of grow lights I think 1 was sensi and there was another one but I can’t remember the name? If I remember correctly I need full spectrum lights as well as their being LED lights.
Yes full spectrum high ppfd is best for cacti. Barrina was prob the other brand. They lack a little in spectrum but are still fine.
