Hiiii, me again! 😅😩✨ are yall sick of me yet? Here’s my isolation tent setup! They’ve been in there for 6 days now after being reported, roots soak in neem mix and their leaves sprayed with neem and wiped, I will be doing an insecticide on the non stressed plants soon and then a copper fungicide treatment aswell! Just spacing it all out to try minimise any stress
A few things I had questions about;
1. My Heart of Jesus has some major transplant shock, what can I do to help her during this process?
2. My alocasia Polly has some new yellow spots on one of her leafs,what could this be and how do I check?
3. Is the tent setup okay? I’ve tried using what I have on hand as risers, making sure there’s correct air circulation etc, rinsing off surfaces and floor and spraying the floor and surfaces with neem as a preventative- is there anything else I can be doing? Rearranging? I am moving in a few weeks and want this pest and fungus problem gone and out of the way before I move them all over to the new house 🥲 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #NewPlantMom #PlantCorner #PestControl #PlantShelfie #OutdoorGrowing #PlantLove

@stephonicle Never!!! 😂 I appreciate all of your help so much 💜☀️ yes any time I do a neem treatment I make sure it’s in the afternoon once the sun has gone down or I out the covers up! 🥰 spider mites! It was spider mites and mealy bugs but I think I got rid of the mealys, but I also am having some kind of fungus disease that’s spreading through my collection, it killed my cathaelea and I had to completely cut back my begonia Rex 🥲 I don’t think it’s spread to these guys (fingers crossed that’s why I’m a little worried about that yellow spot on the Polly alocasia)
@stephonicle I currently have this stuff on hand, I’ve only used the thrive on the heart of Jesus, and begonia before their repot, I’m still very uneducated when it comes to fertilisers and nutrients so I have been wanting to read up a bit more before I go doing anything 😂 😅 it’s been a learning process and a half lol!
@HayleyQ ugh, spider mites & mealies are the worst! I feel for you girl, from what I've heard they're two of the hardest pests to get under control 😢 Sorry, not trying to be a bummer! You certainly have the tools, set up, and determination to defeat the little bastards lol. Your tent set up is especially impressive (my plant "quarantine" is a cramped bathroom counter 😂). So if anyone can successfully save these plants, it's you 🥰
Btw...when it comes to Alocasias, one person immediately comes to mind and that's @PoisedAlbo . I'm pretty sure she recently dealt with spider mites too. She also gave me an awesome recipe for an all-purpose pest spray. I use it as a pest treatment and also on all new plants I bring home. It consists of cinnamon water, neem oil, tea tree oil, peppermint Castile soap (OR regular Castile soap + peppermint oil), & rubbing alcohol. Think I might be forgetting an ingredient, but you get the idea lol

@stephonicle if there is anything I have… it’s determination! 😂 I want to revive all of these baby’s and have them thriving, and I’ll do ANYTHING to make that happen 😂 these beautiful babies have bought me so much peace and has helped my mental health more than alot of people would ever be able to understand (I’m sure Gregers can understand, which is why I love this app so much!) so I want to be able to do the same for them! And keep them happy and healthy for a long time! These spider mites for sure have been little bastards I’ll tell you that😂😂😂😂 oooo! I’ll hav to give this a try! Thank you so much for all of the info and help, I appreciate it so much 🌿☀️✨
@HayleyQ Oh I completely understand! I'm clueless about fertilizers lol. After hearing so many people sing the praises of We the Wild products, I finally ordered a bottle just a few weeks ago. I add a few drops every time I water. I believe they're based in AU!
Impressive that you are so committed to setting up your babies right! I just stick them outside (or in the garage) with a spray down by Natria insecticidal soap, and bring them in after a few days. So far I haven’t lost any with that method, but I don’t recommend it (I live in a pretty temperate climate) As far as the Heart of Jesus, mine is a total diva and has fully died and revived. I think they have to reboot to adapt to their environment so don’t give up! Mine was down to one leaf, and is now thriving. I love Foxfarm products, but they aren’t all organic. I also use Arber and I love Keiki cloning paste for sparse stems. I was told you don’t have to worry about over-fertilizing if you are using organic fertilizer. You will get the best advice on Greg. I’ve only killed a few plants since I’ve been on here, and I’m pretty sure they were goners when I acquired them, or I had messed them up before I got Greg. #PlantsMakePeopleHappy
