#greggang #happyplants
2ft to light, indirect
Last watered 3 months ago
IT FEELS LIKE A FRICKIN BALLOON
@LittleSongbird HELP πŸ’€ DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS
YO PUT THE HASHTAGS IN YOUR POST TO GET PEOPLE TO SEE
I'VE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO MY GASTERALOE BEFORE BUT I CAN'T SPEAK FOR A PEPEROMIA
USUALLY IT'S WATERING ISSUES OR LEAF ROT
THE REST OF THE PLANT SHOULD BE FINE
Maybe, I don't know 😭
@LittleSongbird I HAVE NO DARN IDEA WHAT THIS THING IS 😭😭😭 HE'S HEALTHY OTHERWISE
@smugwort IT WAS THE SAME WITH MY PLANT. IN MY OPINION YOU SHOULD TAKE IT OFF #happyplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #help #peperomia
@LittleSongbird I FIND IT KINDA FUNNY HOW WE'RE DOIN HAPPYPLANTS WHEN THIS GUY IS ANYTHING BUT HAPPY LOL
@smugwort I THOUGHT YOU SAID HE WAS HEALTHY OTHERWISE 🀨🀨
@LittleSongbird HE IS BUT HE'S HAVING AN ALLERGIC REACTION ON HIS LEAF OR SMTH!!
LIL MAN IS BLOATING
@smugwort 🀣🀣 TAKE IT OFF
When did you water him? Just cut back watering and see what'll happen. The leaf may be swollen with water. Don't cut it off, it will change to normal soon (when less watering).
I'd say follow @SvelteKingfern's advice actually. I have no experience with Peperomias
@SvelteKingfern When I went to water him after abt a week, I noticed the bloat :( it doesn't seem to be any type of fluid but some type of gas
Then I don't know. But the leaf itself, apart from ballooning, is green. Let's wait for a few days and see what'll happen. Cutting off the leaf is the last thing to do. Keep me posted (in about 3 days).
Subscribing to see what happens with the balloon animal-leaf
I want to know what happens too! It looks kind of funny though, but that can't be rightπŸ˜…πŸŒ±
poor little guy! definitely keep us posted please, i’m so curious lol
Okey I have done some reserch πŸ€“ Not easy to find anything about it online. But my best guess is that water pressure might have loosened the skin in the leaf after overwatering at some point. And as the plant also transport gas through its leaves (o2 and co2), and it can't keep itself together anymore, the pressure makes it blow up like a ballon🧐
I have an 'Autumn Joy' sedum from my Grandmother (so it's over 50 years old) that I call "frog bellies" because I can press on a leaf to loosen the skin, and then I can blow it up like a balloon. It ends up looking exactly like that (except I do this to leaves that I have removed). It looks & feels like a frog belly...hence the nickname for my plant.
@MockingJay Thank you so much!! I had absolutely no idea what was going on but all I knew is that my poor boy turned into a pufferfish
@LittleSongbird @SvelteKingfern @GaryPoopins @MockingJay @-caro- @UltraKoreanfir Good news guys! I think he's slowly but steadily deflating himself, will keep you guys posted
He is a much more wrinkly boy than he was before but air is still trapped inside
He's going to recover. Great job @smugworth !
