Many orchids need very littleโฆ
I have historically relied on temperature shifts to get orchids to reflower but Iโm trying a new thing by trying to mimic the stress of the dry, low-light season to get her to flower.
Iโve been keeping her on my bathroom sink, which is about 5 feet to the side of a small window but otherwise doesnโt really get light other than when overhead lights are on in the bathroom or the adjacent room when the door is open. I have not watered her in weeks, sheโs just getting ambient bathroom humidity. Granted the average humidity in my apartment is in the 60s, but this plant is still looking way happier than I had expected to see at this point ๐

I wanna see too! I only have three phals, only one Phalaenopsis deliciosa that belongs to the Phalaenopsis subgenus [the other two are Aphyllae and Polychilos], but supposedly they don't need cold induction unlike other Phalaenopsis subgenera species [can't rmbr if it was the seller or an online source, supposedly they're induced by light or smt]. Of my other two, only one has anything to do with cold temps [my Phalaenopsis finleyi, subgenus Aphyllae]. That's supposed to be a cold grower, a temperate species that sheds/stops growing in winter months. But it's doing fine in my 32ยฐC [89.6ยฐF] area.
@Bee_Balmer @Araceae 3ish weeks with no water other than ambient bathroom humidity and barely any light, she is still not mad at me haha
@Bee_Balmer @Araceae watered today after over 1 month in cool bathroom with very little light. Looks like itโs starting to drop an old leaf but otherwise good. Moving it back by my other plants and going to see if it spikes. This one doesnโt seem to like light as much as my other orchids in general (the leaves tend to show signs of light stress quickly) so Iโm going to still keep it in the outskirts of the light my other plants get.
