I found these guys this weekend. As I stated, even as a new plant couple the obsession is real. We went to 3 nurseries with our 2 corgis tagging along. Neither one gets into the plants. They don’t like the squirrels burying their nuts in the outdoor planters. The yard is fine, but not the pawrents plants. Whiskey even checks the plants if they need water but not get into even the mint which we do share with him. He waits for us to give it to him. Anyways back to this weekend adventure. Found some new pots on clearance too. We agreed this is the only way we will purchase pots for our babies! We are so excited for the monstera & zz! The desert rose is a special gift from my husband because he has always called me that because I am from Texas. @WildDaisies I see on the new Texas has been breaking a few records when it comes to the heat. A good friend from Greg came from Texas and used the share the weather a bit. It can get quite hot here in summer and up north it was over 100’F recently which is a winter record !
Hard to imagine corgis were actually Welsh cattle dogs originally but the Queen certainly made them popular . The different colors reminds me of Scotch Whiskey 🥃 which used to be called Black and White but they were black and white terriers (eg Highland) . And yet I see you called one pup Whiskey (not Bourbon as I may have imagined)

Don't ever grow cherry tomatoes in your yard. Your corgis will probably not be quite so respectful once they find out that the little gems are quite tasty. My corgis love to eat mine right off the vines!
I had up to 6 corgis at one time, and we did agility with 5 of them. All but one agility corgi has passed (& the remaining one is too old for it now). We are down to 2 corgis now, & a corgi mix that looks more like a border Collie, and an English Springer pup. I miss my herd of agility babies.
Another thing in common... I have cousins living in Keller, TX!

@Arid_oasis These are the only corgis that are "allowed" to get up close and personal with my plants. I've had one get sick after some curious munching on a Kalanchoe & had to get rid of some of the more toxic varieties. Since I don't want the plants damaged, I just teach them to stay away. The littles are Maggie (more black) and Abbie. The sitting big dogs are Pepper (Corgi mix) and Emily (black tri Springer)
@LiftLashPlant Thank you! The Zz’s actually came potted as one but were so overcrowded we decided to separate them. It was healthy so should do well. Wish me luck that they both do well!
@UltraKoreanfir Wow small world! We have grown tomatoes in the past. It’s like the only “fruit” they are not interested in at all. The red and white corgi would rather eat the marigolds! 😂
@UltraKoreanfir Omg so cute 🥰 All of your dogs are adorable. Whiskey is the youngest a year and half red & white. He loves the outdoors and looking over the garden. He never tries to get into any of the plants. The only “naughty “ thing is he likes to attack to hose when we’re winding it back up. Daisy is 3 and loves to relax. Sunbath a little if not too hot. Just chill in the yard and make sure the squirrels stay out of the pots and yard. Otherwise, she requests to be let in for the AC. 😂 I love them.
@Arid_oasis let them photobomb away. It will just make the memories that much more special and you will find yourself smiling seeing them. 🥰
@Arid_oasis Whiskey checking on his Dad’s basil after the squirrel was digging around. Daisy with one of my plant babies My Rosemary. I haven’t gotten around to photographing the outdoor plants yet. Probably since the heat was so bad it took a toll on me and some of the plants. 🌱 It We are going to have to restart with some of them.

@Arid_oasis They (along with their 16 year cat brother Mocha) and plants really give us joy, love, and happiness. While teaching us patience, calmness and kindness on another level much like when I had little children. Great therapy and I would say it’s free, but we all know we pay for it in more plants, pots and supplies. However, it might still be cheaper and we feel better and have some plants too! Therapists don’t give us free plants. 😂
@SillyPlantGirl They don’t eat any of the plants but especially wouldn’t eat Tomatoes. I have given Whiskey a mint leaf. Daisy wants no part of it, but she did try to eat a marigold I let her sniff from a cutting. She won’t get it from the pot.
@Seymour oh I never noticed your question about the flowering. I would say here in Texas and the SouthWest of the United States they have a great blooming season. It also depends if one can give it plenty of sunlight but keep it from the harshness of midday sunlight. We have a neighbor that has more established desert roses and they have been blooming since March. The one we just bought has so many buds just waiting to open. It even has some seed pods. Hopefully, we can sow some babies.
