New growth in my tropical plant cabinets
Update on our switch to monitoring our VPD in the #ikeacabinet for the tropical plants: New Growth is emerging out of nowhere. All leaves are being retained.
Cabinet No. 1 is set for ideal conditions to help the high humidity Anthurium grow. New growth emerged on the #Warocqueanum, #Clarinervium, and #Magnificum. Queen foliage has grown. One Clarinervium has new foliage, the other has a fuller appearance since there is no leaf loss.
Cabinet No. 2 was just set for ideal conditions two days ago for the medium humidity Anthurium and #Philodendron plants with no leaf loss on the imports from #Ecuagenera. As you may know, Philodendron do not travel well so it is expected you will lose foliage on larger plants. One leaf on the #Queremalense was questionable when it arrived but itβs back to green and thriving. The #ColombiaSP is opening up with no leaf loss as well.
I will keep those of you interested in learning more about this method updated in about a week! Have a good one, #GregGang !

@mal9 Ideal conditions for Anthurium: 75-85Β°F in the daytime/70-75Β°F at night. Humidity: 60-80% but 50 is tolerable. My ideal setting is 65-75Β°F any time with 60-70% humidity. Thereβs a sweet spot where the humidity raises the leaf temperature and keeps nutrients in circulation. Thatβs based on ideal vapor pressure deficit.
I am going to let the Colombia climb up first then crawl when it decides to. I have enough room to do it.
π
Your leaf looks amazing! Mine had a few marks but Iβm ok with that. πΏ

This definitely makes me think I need to add a humidifier to the room where I'm putting my new silver sword. Its temps are pretty steadily acceptable and the humidity stays stable but on the low end of what the plant will tolerate. And if I want to move one of my calatheas up there this summer due to it being an overachieving b*tch who is outgrowing its current home, I'll definitely have to boost humidity a tad
@RelentlessZebra I feel that trying to recreate their total environment yields better results. I thought it would be hard but it wasnβt. It was easy yet it was time-consuming to understand the different terminology and how to achieve the results. Keeping the temperature and humidity at their required levels helps them flourish. It takes very little time to see results. While we canβt rewind the clock to undo crispy leaf tips [π
] we can move forward to prevent them. Overachieving plants are always good. π Imagine what homegirl would do if you raised that humidity. πΏπ« π«
Hahaha given that she's put out 3 gorgeous perfect leaves just since I repotted her out of her nursery pot a few weeks ago because my gut said that the soil she came in was too heavy for her root system (I was so right omg), I am almost scared to think about what she'd do with even better conditions, hahaha.
@RelentlessZebra She would flourish. Iβve seen pretty good growth in my Queens and Villenaorum foliage. Your plant looks gloriously happy. π
